Italian threads are also RHT on both sides. Italian bikes don't normally come with French cranks, but the crank isn't necessarily original.

The downtube and toptube look fine, just pop a new fork on there and you are golden. But yeah, if it doesn't fit you, that is too bad. If you have a hard time getting rid of it, let me know

Everything on the bike seems fine save for that fork and that can be replaced or perhaps, straightened although I would have to talk to my local frame builder about that.

I can't really complain as the bike was... *cough*free*cough*

I am looking at it as a possible parts donor for a Ron Cooper frame I am drooling over even though the Cooper rates an even better groupo.

got this guy for $10, but i know absolutely nothing about it. its a Murray Phoenix. from my research, i found that it was a crappy bike haha! but im hoping it was common so there is info. im going to renovate it to be a commuter for my woman, so the rust and everything is no issue. info please? sizes or things? specifically if 700c wheels will work...

Replace the fork? What fun would that be? Straighten it! Don't you have the Park tool for that? There are three measurements. Length, rake, and height of dropout.

It's probably chrome-molybdenum, so it's going to be really hard to bend.

Give it a look over, you should be able to know everything you need to know in a couple of minutes. Cheap Shimano steel deraileurs? Cheap steel brakes? Stays "crimped" to hold dropouts?
One-piece crankset, or cheapo "alloy" one? Joke saddle? Lots of poorly finished steel components? Crummy decals on the frame, including a sticker for a headbadge? Somebody did a thread in the past week or so on whether Murray ever produced a "high-end" bike. With a Murray, using your own eyes is your best research. Anyway, I saved a Murray from the garbage truck a few months ago. The components and build quality were total junk, but I was surprised in how well the wheels were put together (rim walls weren't "wavey", no "up and down hops", spun true)...I also got alot of parts off that puppy. I was quite impressed with the wheels (OK, they weren't Mavic rims with Campagnolo hubs...but have utility value), and plan to use the front wheel to replace a rusted out one on another bike saved from the garbage truck (this one is covered with an inch of filth plus lot of rust ... surface rust & "rotted out" rust... an eyesore that should clean up quite nicely with a few parts swapped here and there... I love a challenge!!!)

Grabbed this yesterday. I had inquired about it on craigslist a few weeks ago, but then went out of town and forgot about it. Then I got an email offering it for much less if I was still interested. Seems it's been sitting in a garage for 15 years and the owner was cleaning out the garage. Final selling price: $250.

Any ideas on model/year?

Probably early eighties, there will be a yeardating on top of the rear derailleur. Fabulous paint condition !Great find, deserves a thread of it's own once it is cleaned up. Enjoy!

Great find! Your bike is really very nice. Looks like a '91 or '92. Paramount was the top of the line Schwinn road bike. If you Google it you will find lots of info. The Series bikes were not made in the US, but rather in Asia. They are still very nice bikes and yours is in excellent condition. Even the reflectors are still on it! Check out the Waterford site for some more info.

As long as this bike fits you, I don't think you could do much better for a beginner's bike. Especially at the price!

So I picked this up from a CL post over the 4th holiday weekend for $20. I forgot to take pics before removing the wheels, which went on a '74 Conti which I traded for a Performance Tourer a few month's ago.

With all the rust I won't mind powder coating this at all, especially since I've been thinking of a yellow fixie beater. It does have an old leather saddle, it was a last minute selling point even though I'd already commited to buy. And yes I realize the dropouts are stamped and not forged, hense beater.

Any tips on how to rehab this purty old saddle wo trashing some shorts with mink oil?

Picked up a 1987 Cannondale ST600 touring bike, typical garage sale price. Shimano 600 brakes and crank, Deore derailleurs. Someone in the past converted it to flat bars, so I will have to convert it back. Bike is my size, so it will be decision time on what to keep: the Miyata 215ST or this bike. Decisions, decisions.
