Longest ride on your bike?

IMHO one either:
- rides bikes for fun, in which case it can't be boring by definition
- or, for exercise, which means one is either:
- professional or amateur racer, in which case boring is irrelevant because this is a part of a job description
- does it for perceived health benefits even though doesn't enjoy it, in which case one will probably not ride bikes for long because there are significantly more efficient aerobic exercises.

As a child (about 13-14) many years ago rode from Yeovil to Dorchester and straight back which was about 44 miles as an adult a more pathetic 14-16 miles Yeovil to Castle Cary and then cycled back about 6 hours later.

That's a heck of an exercise, I'd be happy to hit 25 right now. Leg strength isn't there yet. The thing I've found with riding over running is there is no impact on the joints and you can go much farther and explore so much more

Pikers. I just rode 168 miles on Saturday (RT Nashua NH to Providence RI) and 50 on Sunday on my new FX3. I'm 57 and nuts.
Keep your destinations fun and enjoy a nice medium-size meal on the way.

Already bragged about the 168 miles I did for my longest, but I take a perverse pride in an 80 mile ride I did last year on a Walmart "Huffy" one-speed cruiser that must have weighed in excess of 50 pounds. Lots of clanking and several chain drops per ride on that pile o' trash.
Here's the bike: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Huffy-26-...lack/324175718

My longest ride was 28.85 miles. I have ridden more than 40 miles in a day, but that was in two different rides with a long break in between.

Longest ride to date on my mostly stock 2014 Diamondback Trace Comp; 60.17mi, 2,224ft elevation gain, including sunburn, a wasp sting and in the end a dead mp3 player and headlight. I'd do it again.

85 miles on the commuter hybrid. But lack of hand positions made it tougher.
326 miles on the roadie, in 24 hrs, with aero bars.

Avg speed was 16.3 mph https://www.strava.com/activities/724484887
Endurance road rides are something you build up to, along with dialing in an ultra comfortable fit. Endurance hybrid in that one or two hand positions is another story though, but I would imagine that some people tour that way.

40 miles is my top on my Crosstrail. I don't have much problem doing that and want to go further. The drawback is how long it takes. With 2 young kids, being out more than 4 hours is tough.
