Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? there is a chick that has class here and rides a purpled out bmx bike around. she seems like she wants to be badass, but her bike doesnt look thrashed enough to signify that she actually takes it to the skatepark or tears up the front railings of a fortune 500 building before security chases her away

So many great bikes on campus recently. The lugged MB1 was up there. There's also a vintage Madison someone rides around as a single speed, and some crazy person who rides like a centurion iron man, and it's kind of a mish-mash of mid-range Shimano components, until you get to the cockpit which is a Cinelli Integralter... very cool.

No pictures because I hate everything.

This sad bike has seen better days. Every time I pass by it appears to have been robbed a little more of its dignity than the last.

I don't understand how anyone could let that happen to their bike. Unless I was dead, I know I couldn't.

Not FGSS, but unusual enough to post. Judging by the way the top tube and down tube are wrapped, as well as the fact that it was locked alongside a pile other delivery bikes, I believe this bike does food delivery for the deli behind it.

Yep, although I usually only see it on the mountain bikes that delivery guys ride. Never seen it on a fixed.

The reverse seatpost/saddle tilt ties it all together

Reverse seatpost? Impossible. That is an aero post, only goes in one way. It is a TT bike that has been converted to daily road use. Belongs in the JA thread.

Yeah I know, but it can't come from the factory with the clamping part that way... can it?

TRIBECA — Two bicycles, each worth $900, were stolen from a TriBeCa street corner, after a thief unscrewed scaffolding bars to remove the locks, police said.
Police said the bikes' owner, a 38-year-old TriBeCa woman, had secured her two Biria Bicycles to a scaffolding bar outside of 395 Broadway on Sept. 24, at about 10 p.m.
When she returned the next morning, at about 8:00 a.m., both her bikes and the lock were missing — with the scaffolding bar on the ground, unhinged.
Police were still investigating the incident.
I don't wish bike theft upon anyone, but I had to at the "used Biria bicycle = $900" bit.

right? spotting a rusty Raleigh Sports is not uncommon in the city area, but this one looked like done well, except the saddle and the seatpost.
