My oatmeal takes very little time. I only cook it once every 5 days. The oatmeal toasts while I boil the water. The 20 minutes spent cooking it doesn't require my presence, so I either read or use that time to roast coffee beans. Total prep time in the morning is less than 2 minutes.

Have you tried "Steel Cut" oats? They take L-O-N-G-E-R to cook, but they "stick" with you much longer than rolled oats.
