We've been using both linseed oil and Fluid Film on our trucks for years. Started using FF on the bikes the past year or so. It's actually an effective, albeit slow, rust breaker-upper. We've freed up several stuck seat posts with it. Put some in an old-school squeeze-trigger oil can (think - Wizard of Oz Tin Man), optionally thin with some motor oil or other thin oil, route a narrow hose into the holes going into the frame tubes, and it glurks right in. Nice thing about both FF and linseed oil is that they're, respectively, animal and plant based, and thus much safer to work with than most mineral-based preps or solvents.
