I think the sale prices of the Merckx and Lightspeed are anomalies. I doubt it's part of a new trend. And gee, I wish I had seen the Lightspeed. I would replace my Lemond with it, as the Lightspeed is my size and my Lemond is small.

I think your groupset is Veloce, which is maybe why other Merckx shoppers may not have have bitten on the bike. The Zondas are from the 10 speed era and definitely a big cut above the Veloce group.

Maybe somewhat, but I still think prices are way down. I recently got a '95 Gios Compact with 8 speed Chorus for $500 off eBay. Seller told me he bought it for $1000 3 years ago, which is what I thought it would go for when I put in the only bid.

Also hope the seller on that Merckx doesn't find some reason to cancel the sale (e.g. "Golly the top tube got dented while I was packing it, so sorry, can't sell it in this condition"), since the frame alone would likely go for more than you paid for the whole bike.

Please don't ask me how I know this can happen.

I haven't been keeping up with prices lately for NR/SR stuff, but this sounds like a deal. $250 shipped for cranks, pedals (steel, with steel dustcaps and strap loop cages), derailleurs and gear levers. A little crusty, but everything looks like it would clean up nicely. Lots of life left in the rings, too.

FD is an earlier version without the C-clip. Unfortunately, the seller doesn't call out the date codes, but he is accepting Best Offers, too.

Here's a nice Cannondale for $100 in San Carlos (SF Bay Area peninsula). Posted 3 days ago, unsure if still there...

EDIT: Looking more closely at the pic, I see the dent in the chainstay.

Nice deal. Dent is stock to allow pedal to pass the beefy chainstays.

Edit: Ooh Dura Ace. Ad says "make offer" so I suspect it won't be a good deal for long.

Lugged Trek 930 - $180

Selling my Trek 930 single track bike. Lugged steel frame. Made in USA. I think 16" frame size. 27" standover height with relatively long top tube, as was typical for mountain bikes of the 1990's era. 26" wheels rim brake only. Newer Sun RynoLyte wheels with Shimano Deore hubs. Set up as 1X9. Road style handle bars /shifters (have front derailleur if you wanted to go 2X9) Canti brakes. Thompson seatpost. Good condition. Only real noticeable scratches are on front fork leg where, presumably, it rubbed another bike while on bike rack. No dents. Good steel ride. Perfect setup for rail trail/commuting/around the neighborhood. Have extras (front fender, rear rack, water bottle holder, cable lock) if needed. If the add is up, it's still available. Thanks for looking.

Seller is from Milwaukee and has shipped the bike. As of tonight, the bike is already in hot SoCal with delivery scheduled for tomorrow. Have you guys tried reflecting Fedex Ground tracking info on Google maps? Fedex provides updates every 12 hours or so and it's fun watching the item cross the country.

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Milw...2d34.07029!3e0

And what happened in that sale that you're implying where the seller backed off?

man that litespeed was cheap for a Ti frame, nice group too. Always wanted to try a Ti frame, but would only get it if it was cheap like this one. it was also my size!!! $500 is nothing for that

The merckx was a little odd and he couldn't state a size. It looks like a 6059 cm ish id say judging from head tube proportion.

campagnolo panasonic road bike - $300

"Campagnolo Panasonic Road Bike,
9 speed
components are all Italian Campagnolo,
Wheels are CTL-370 Super hard Araya 700C
Brand new Michelin Dynamic's tires,
Great road bike"

https://charlotte.craigslist.org/bik/6218323021.html

(Panasonic built the Team Europe bikes in the mid to late '80's with Columbus SL/SP tubing and full Campagnolo kit. This appears to be a late 70's/early '80's frame. Did Panasonic build an earlier iteration of the Team Europe? I don't know, or know not, for certain. Looks like a bicycle in very good knick, with nice bits, at a not unreasonable price. If it were nearer to me, I'd be checking it out in person to see.)

more ads by this user

*** Made in the USA ***

Just tuned up by a bike mechanic to make sure everything works -- brakes, gears, tires, etc

19.25" (49cm) steel frame (Reynolds 501) fits riders 5'2" to 5'7" ... give or take an inch or so

New tires (700 x 28c), a new chain, new bar tape and new cables were installed during today's tune up!

15-speeds (3 x 5) w/ Shimano 600 groupset

Ready to ride with no repairs or adjustments needed

The frame has some light scratches which do not impact the bike's performance and have been factored into the price

Willing to meet up in or deliver to the Cambridge, Somerville, Medford, Lexington and Arlington areas at no extra cost. The bike is stored in Lexington.

Call or text me at 978-888-5855 and please refer to the gray Trek 500 Series road bike ... Thanks!
