'18 Tour de Bronx
Yesterday I rode in the annual Tour de Bronx for the 7th year running. It is a singularly cool, urban ride with thousands of participants of all skill sets and backgrounds. I slowed down my usual pace and rode with my brother and three friends, one of whom took the Boltbus up from Philly the night before to partake (and enjoy a Halloween festivities filled night out in Manhattan the night before). We rode from my house down to the start by Yankee Stadium then the scenic, sometimes frenetic 42 mile route and back home. I then accompanied my buddy back to the Javits Center in Midtown where he caught the bus then I mashed it back home. 82 miles of pure enjoyment and a pasta dinner with an espresso afterward for good measure. If anyone else rode in the Tour yesterday please post photos and if you have never ridden in it try to do so next year. An eclectic group of thousands of cool bikes of every kind.

Great pics!
Its about time somebody posts a cool urban ride. I'm sick of all of the same ol ugly countryside, mountain-view, valley, stream, river, wooden bridge, beachside ride photos!!! Blaaaa!
Ill definitely have to look into this ride for 2019. I never heard of it and its right in my backyard.

@Giacomo 1 (and everyone else) this ride is a must-do. I didn't go this year because I chose to go to the Philly Bike Expo instead. This ride is a massive party on wheels. People of so many backgrounds come, and it is the most jovial ride I have ever been on. It's usually on the 3rd Sunday of October. I don't know why it was on the 4th this time. I hope they move it back next year.

My wife and I registered for the 40, but I had a rough day on Saturday and when the alarm went off on Sunday morning I knew there was no way I was going to be up to it. Next year...

LET'S ROLL
I always recommend this event to cyclists who have never done it. Nice social ride, well stocked rest areas, pizza slice & tshirt at the end.
And everything is free! I usually volunteer as safety marshal; as they're always short. Saw lots of flats/mechanical issues yesterday.
I didn't marshal this year; I was asked to lead a bunch of cyclists that have never done the event before.
Those are my crew's rides on photo #4 of the first post. That's my Brompton w/ the green bag on the front of the bike.

Last of couple of years; both events were held on the same day. Making volunteers and riders choose. I
think this may be a reason why they're on different days again; not enough police *******/security to go around.

Really proud of my crew. I thought it was going to be a slow paced 40 mile cruise. But they were going fast; attacking hills. None of us walked; but we passed a lot carbon fiber roadies walking uphill. I always
got left behind on the steeper parts; but was able to catch up when the hills flattened.
