Help Identify Frame/Fork Set...

Does anyone recognize this frame and fork set. The bike was originally fitted with all Suntour components and a Maxy crank. Other than that, I know little about the bike/frame.

Can you tell the type of dropouts?

I'm thinking French.

Motobecane used that triangle on the fork crown, but I think the sides of the crown had an "m"

The use of stamped dropouts with a slot for a tabbed washer suggests low-end Japanese to me.

Would a low-end Japanese bike have fancy butting like this frame has? Check out the half-wrap seat stays.

It originally said Motobecane to me, but I suspect it's a mid-range Japanese bike. There is nothing identifying about the places where decals were?

With the wrap-around seat-stays it may be a HOLDSWORTH (???).

Perhaps a look at the half wrap seat stays and a serial number will prove helpful...

That serial number looks distinctly Asian to me. A 1984 Miyata serial number would look exactly like that ...

I checked out online the Miyata line of bike frames and can't find any examples that have the same half-wrap seat stays. This frame is a mystery so far...
