Not exactly C&V, but one for T-Mar or serial number sleuths

Co-worker has an unmarked (no branding) alu tig-welded short-coupled road/track frame with a very short wheelbase and track ends, the seat tube has a long curved vertical "divot" to allow the rear wheel to be even closer and tighter, integrated HS and aluminum fork, multi-shaped tube profiles so it's quite modern....so no pics of the full frame but he was told this was a "custom made" frame when he bought it (lightly used). What IS here is the serial number stamped on the BB shell, long enough it needs 2 pix to show the full thing.
How about it T-Mar (or disciples): can you tell the origins from this serial number/pattern? JHC 14040101

No idea but nice welding. Like dimes laid down on each other.

Track ends and a kickstand plate? Probably not Marin.

@thumpism the kickstand plate is on the picture posted by @3speedslow and not the picture posted by @unworthy1.

FWIIW, Frank the Welder lays down "dime welds" in a very similar fashion, and, IIRC, I was at his shop once when he was working on frame where the wheel "tucked" into the seat tube, but I could be mistaken.

Sorry, offhand I don't recognize the serial number format. However, assuming it really was "custom", I wouldn't dismiss the possibility that the alpha characters are the original owner's initials and not part of the serial number.

Thanks for all your responses (too bad the serial number is not a dead give-away) , I'll ask about a full side-view of the bike but tho there are some similarities with some Marin frames, I don't see an exact match with what Marin pix I found online. It does show nice consistent welding and I see a lot of that quality with Taiwanese-welded aluminum, those guys get a LOT of practice. Needless to say, so does Frank-the-Welder!

for any mystery fans still interested, the owner of this frame had a pic (non-drive-side but there ya go) that shows the features. maybe this coupled with the serial number can shed light

It looks like it could be an Aventon Mataro. If so, there is a recall on the fork: https://www.aventon.com/pages/recall-notice

If I'm reading this correctly Yongkang Jiahong Tools Manufacture Co.,Ltd (JHC) is a Chinese company that started out making tools but then got into making bikes. I presume Aventon bikes are built by JHC?

The bike here could also, of course, have been branded differently (Aventon came to mind first tho).
