531Aussie - Super Prodigy
Sounds like you like it! I'm interested in one for the pro/cache reasons that you mention, as well as the fact that I've heard elsewhere that they ride great.
I'll be on a smaller frame for sure, 51ish, so I shouldn't have any probs with stiffness, although I got back on my old cecil walker 531 the other day after 12 months of riding a compact columbus altec 2 frame. Now that's a definition of flexy! Surprisingly, I reckon the old noodle is less smooth on the road than the taiwanese sweat shop built beer can that I call "my good bike". I was still tingling half an hour after I got off. The import tariff killer doesn't do that to me.

Here are my two roadies. The first is a '05 Trek Madone 5.2 with Ultegra 10, Look Keo pedals, Shimano Flight Deck and a Selle Italia Flight Gel Flow saddle. I love this bike, it is stiff, yet comfortable, and corners like it is on rails. I did my first centrury in 15 years on it last weekend and it was awesome. The other bike is my old racing bike from high school and college days. It is an '86 Fuso by Dave Moulton with full Dura-ace. It is a beautiful bike that rides as good as it looks. I have enjoyed looking at all of your rides, you guys and gals have some pretty cool bikes.

Had to post better photos of my R700 since these portray the bike's colour more accurately. Updated since my last post with the Arione saddle and a Topeak Micro Aero wedge, although I chose to take that off for the photos:

some facts about the bike:
it says Bianchi 19 times
8 speed shimano cassette sitting on
Shimano WH-550 wheels connected to
Mirage 172.5 cranks with
Campagnolo Pedals
The 8 speed Campy levers aren't labeled with a model. They do say carbon on the piece above where the levers connect, but they're alloy levers, so I'm kind of confused.
Rear-derailier and fd also don't have model numbers
ITM Bianchi Stem
Bianchi Seat Post
San Marco Saddle
Vittoria Diamante Pro Tires (amazing)

After lots of research - especially reading this forum - I found the Giant FCR4 to be the best buy in my price range. I'm sure the $700 bikes are nicer, but the FCR4 has good geometry, good gearing, a comfortable seat, and 120psi tires. Only real drawback is the straight bar, and a set of handlebar extenders makes it nearly perfect. For those who can't spend $700, this $440 bike is a winner.

I just picked up a "used" KHS Flite 750 from a guy that rode it once and decided to sell it. It's my first real road bike, so of course I'm thrilled thus far.

I have a 2005 Fuji Ace. It's my first attempt at riding since the early '80's so I went kinda low end but I like it. I just put some new clipless pedals on it, it's riding fine
