Difference Between Flatland and Street
Okay, I'm new to BMX, looking to possibly give it a shot. I do CX and a lot of trials, but now in college, I find less motivation for trials and saw a few BMX guys.
My first question is, what is the difference between flatland and street? I've seen a few flatland videos I think, and seems quite a bit harder, but the difference between the two is still vague to me.
Bikes? Anny suggestions? I realize there are hundereds of whats a good bike thread, so I'm going to ask again. I'm 5'10 with a shorter than normall torso. I''ve read some stuff about the Eastern Element, but I'm new to the BMX world.
Thanks
Byron

Flatland = FLAT...LAND. No curbs, gaps, embankments, ledges, rails, stairs or features of any kind, all of which are common elements found on tha streets, yo. The less bash-me-in-the-head-obvious differences would be the heavy emphasis on super-technical trick combinations and creative links in flatland vs. the emphasis on creatively using the surrounding environment in street. Even more subtle differences include tighter, more compact geometry and less emphasis on strength in flatland bikes versus durability and more relaxed geometry in street equipment.
