Please post photos of your cyclocross bike converted to a daily commuter - purely for inspiration.
I am planning on doing the same with my Cannondale CX9 CAAD9. So far, I have added 700 x 35 Vittoria Randonneur Cross Pro City Tires and have ordered a pair of SKS P45 Chromoplastic Longboard Bicycle Fenders. I have also replaced the stem with a Hi-Rise ( Amazon.com : Eleven 81 AHD Road Stem 1 1/8X130mm 35D 31.8 : Bike Stems And Parts : Sports & Outdoors ) in order to bring the bars up a bit,
Any other suggestions?

Mine started as a Surly Cross Check, but it's now permanently set up as a fixed-gear commuter:

I actually use a smaller seat bag now - Topeak micro. I attach a seat post fender in the back when conditions warrant, but that is it. My clothes and laptop go in a Mission Workshop waterproof backpack. Lezyne Megadrive and Serfas 60 lumen taillight for visibility and night riding. So really all I have done is added accessories.
I do only do about 3 days out of the week on average commuting though. It is mostly on trails and 30+ mi RT.

A rear rack is very useful for a commuter and, of course, a lighting system. You have the fenders already.

Here's a shot of my Ritchey Breakaway Cross, set up so it's "commutable." It is not my primary commuter but I often ride it on days when no rain is expected. I don't want to put fenders on it because I've got 3 other bikes with fenders that I can ride on rainy days, and I prefer to keep this bike fenderless. I use a Carradice bag when commuting, and the small rack is a Carradice Bagman. The tires are Pasela PT 32s, and I've got a spare wheelset with knobby cross tires for riding on unpaved surfaces.
One issue with cross bikes is they may or may not be the best for using a rear rack. I tried putting a rear rack on mine last summer for a trip along the GAP-C&O Canal trails, but my feet were hitting my panniers because the stays aren't really long enough for touring. I ended up taking one of my touring bikes on that trip. The cross bike works great, however, with a Carradice bag, which is all that I need for carrying commuting gear.
For comparison, I've also attached a photo of my Soma Saga, which is similar to a cross frame with a longer wheelbase and stouter tubing. It's got fenders and a rear rack. I've only had the Saga a few weeks but will be using it often for commuting as well as touring. The other bike is my Bob Jackson World Tour, set up for the GAP-C&O Canal trip.
Added another shot of my Gunnar Crosshairs, which I recently sold. It got it with the intention of making it my primary commuter, but the geometry didn't fit me quite right.

This is a Masi CX, upgraded with Shimano 105 gearing, a rear rack and dynamo lighting. The LED dynamo lights are great - you never have to worry about recharging batteries.

question plus my pics
You have any pictures or video of how bright the dynamo lights are? probably worth another thread instead of confusing this one.
1st is my Motobecane Fantom CX before I left Cumberland, MD on my ride of the GAP (to Pittsburgh) the second is a pic of the bike after I installed fenders on it.

There are much better photos online than I am able to take myself. Peter White Cycles probably has the definitive set of images comparing different lights. The LED dynamo lights are getting better every year.

Be aware that your CX9 has a wishbone seat stay which can make mounting fenders or a rack more difficult then normal on a CX bike. If you are lucky, you have a bolt under in the middle of the wishbone. If you aren't lucky, you'll have to be clever. Either way, it is going to be more difficult to mount fenders than other bikes and it may be next to impossible to mount a rack.

Does a Bianchi Volpe count as a CX bike? I call this bike my SUV.

Bianchi Volpes are great bikes although often overlooked in discussions of CX bikes.

There seem to be two classes of bikes with the CX label. There are those that are worthy of racing in CX races, and there are those like the Volpe which are nice but too heavy to race. With the rear rack and dynamo hub and fenders, mine weighs about 34 pounds.

The Mfg. called this a cx bike last year. Now it's a "fitness" bike. Whatever the label, it makes a great commuter.
