Actually, one of the guys I ride with does have and uses a Peloton. He is a one-percenter so the cost was not an issue. I keep hoping he will adopt me, but so far it’s not happening. He has several houses including one in Mallorca.

I think it's helpful to not think of it as a bicycle. It's home gym equipment that allows you to have personal spin classes. Even with the monthly on-demand class fee, the thing pays for itself in about a year (based on a $15/session spin class cost), assuming it's part of your regular workout routine.
I think it's dumb because I'm a real cyclist. I can't do the spin classes. But it serves its purpose for her. I've tried, but I can't get into it. I can mash out a winter ride, which is nice.

In bird news...
a Eurasian Wigeon was spotted by a friend in NorCal the other day, trying to act natural and blend in with all the American wigeons. I guess it happens every now and then, took a wrong turn, got blown off course, whathaveyou.

The Tundra with the Leer shell is pretty spacious. Dog and I could sleep in the truck and mom and kid in the bed. Or vice versa. Roll down back window and removable slider make it pretty easy.
Ditch the trailer and access a lot more stuff. We can only dream.

Possibly an escapee. Eurasuan collared doves have become endemic here, having escaped from cages at some point. I realize it is less likely that wigeons would be caged birds, but strange things happen

The house is open to the outside with no options for heating. It will be dropping into the low fifties, at night, soon enough. But the afternoons are simply magnificent!

IME light bikes don’t just happen. Every single part has to be considered regarding its weight. You can’t just “non-chalant” it and expect to end up with a featherweight. Heavy frame weighing more than about 850g will cost you. Deep, wide rims are heavy and will cost you. Spokes heavier than Lasers or CX-Rays are too heavy and the weight will show up in the end. Sturdy hubs like Chris Kings will add weight. Dura Ace hubs even worse. Every part matters. It goes on and on. My 13.25 lb ready-to-ride bike was done on a tight budget. It can be done, but not by accident.

My wife has become a bit of a power junkie since the Peloton. Not real power but consistent numbers for her. She now talks about metrics and is appalled I would ride the Peloton without at least having the metrics screen on. I do like it as a regular spin bike. Dark with my own music and a fan. Very expensive spin bike, but again, I'm in no position.

I was taking that M drug that I cannot spell or pronounce. Even got an injection after being admitted. But nothing after discharge, which happened last night. So far so good.
In other news, my roommate was an elderly yet pretty spry Italian fellow. He apparently had been suffering from so-called "panic attacks" for decades. What he really needed was a simple ablation. He had one before I was admitted. Before he left last evening a doctor visited him and told him there was less than a 2% chance of his problem returning. She also told him she had no idea why he had not been offered the treatment decades ago instead of being diagnosed with panic attacks. I felt really bad for the guy, but also happy for the success.
