i feel beat after this morning's FTP workout. Really want to sleep. Of course, going to the dentist's office also had its toll.

nope. Another 6 weeks, and then it's over.
Today was for taking a mold of the teeth. By this point, i've gotten so scared of needles into my gums (not afraid of needles otherwise), that i basically popped a pill of xanax before the doctor injected lidocaine. This is probably why i'm feeling tired right now.

About 15 miles from home riding with two team mates I picked up something in my front wheel, possibly a clump of Spanish moss. As it went around it caught on the right brake pad holder and spun it off. Since it was Zero-G holder I spent a good 30 minutes looking for it before giving up. I limped back home without front brakes.

Skipped sprint practice at Fiesta Island. Wet dirty roads and I didn't want to take a dirty bike to work. Yeah, that's it.

Missed Sunday and Monday workouts because I felt a cold coming on. It hasn't taken hold so hopefully the lost hours were worth it. Back on 'er tonight.

I don't mind needles, but I'm now super anxious about getting needles into my lips. I had to have that for a while as they were trying to break up scars with steroids.
After a while, I basically said F it and am happy living with the scar tissue...

Wanted to get out at 11:00 for a long ride yesterday, but got stuck working on a project till 2:00. Was so pissed afterwards I gave up on riding and just went bouldering instead.

Planned 2.5-3h L2 ride outside was aborted due to the combination of 20F weather, ugly wind, and the lingering effects of 10x20 sprint intervals on the trainer last night.
I ate a Cadbury egg instead.

128 tough miles between Fri and Sat. Today, I should've just done a couple hours z1/2. Instead, I started out with a small group. Crawled up the first roller. Holding onto the back of the paceline at 22mph made me want to cry. My legs hurt so badly. After 40min, I turned back. Couldn't even face climbing this not very steep 1mi hill. Limped home, thankful for a mild tailwind. Fail.

3 hrs z2 today turned into 2.5 mostly z1.
It's the last day of a three week block, so I'm not exactly beating myself up over it (not that I ever do anyway).

I was going to get up and do some recovery spinning on the trainer today, but I slept in instead. My legs are feeling much better than yesterday from the rest. The remainder of the week will be full of school work and bad weather. Guess it was time for a rest week anyway, despite my really low training volume compared to most here. How do you do it? I'm liking the WR hours plan. Would I really be that much better if I trained more? After last weekend (4th "tough"--for me--week in a row), I'm thinking I'd just be a mess. I think I performed best during week 2 of this last block.

Left home at 11:00 this morning with an unseasonably warm 63 degrees and 12mph breeze, dressed in bibs and a SS jerset. Rode about 45' to what passes for a long "hill" around here with the intention of doing two sets of 5x hill at LTHR. First two reps were okay and then things pretty much fell apart. Legs were done and couldn't drive my HR where I wanted - I was probably more fatigued than I realized from back-to-back crits this weekend. On top of it, it felt like the wind had picked up and I was shivering a little. By the time I made it back home a little after 1:00 I found out that the temp had dropped to 45 degrees and the wind was 22 gusting to 35. Yeah, that will get you shivering.
Totally wasted workout, and now tomorrow is going to need to be a recovery day. That's one of the bad things about getting old(er): when my body needs a recovery, it stops working until it gets one. I'm hoping to find some way to train past that but haven't had much luck so far.

I haven't failed in at least a week. I have no idea why. That must be a failing, of some sort.

Heh, threat of light sprinkles. I'm going to glue up my 23mm Vittorias that just arrived from PBK instead and ride tomorrow.

I nearly failed my recovery ride tonight. I was on the trainer watching the Tour of the Basque Country and every time someone attacked I wanted to jump out of the saddle and hammer, out of habit.
