GMR to the Village 6/30 with Team Unlikely Cyclist

Team Unlikely Cyclist has decided to call off our ride after all due to concerns with high heat forecast for Sunday. In the interest of safety....we are out.

If anyone still plans on riding...be safe

Wow that looks like fun! Not suggesting I could finish but I'd sure like to try. Maybe someday.

I am not one to ride in hot weather (although I just read an article that says its good to do so - just don't push) but if weather looks like June Gloom for the date I may join you... hopefully you will plan a ride in the Fall and I will definitely try and make that one.

June 30th, that would give me a month to get in some riding. I may join you but no guarantee I'll keep up.

I'm out. Too bad. I really enjoyed the 32 seconds I got to ride with them all last time. After that, I was a wheezing spec in their rear-view mirror.

Bummer, Sundays don't work for us. But my wife is definitely interested in the next GMR ride. I'd like to try the shack again now that I'm feeling better, but nowhere near ready for Village after driving it last Friday when my wife rode it.

I'm in, although probably only to the Shack--if I can make it even that far! I'll see if I can talk my wife into doing it with me; I think it'd be good to have her meet some enthusiastic female riders. Thanks Beach!

I like sunday rides. If I have the extra gas money I'll make it up there.

Excellent. We have a SAG vehicle coming so if you want to try making to Village...you could use the SAG to get back to shack and reward yourself for doing TO the village you could do the downhill from the shack.

We may have a few riders who won't go to village. So if you don't want to go beyond shack that's cool too,

I've been off my bike so much lately, battled a really bad cold, then pulled a muscle in my back. But I'll do my best to be there!

You don't know the meaning of "off your bike"

If the brakes on my scooter were better, I'd freaking scooter up the mountain. As it is, they're scary on slight downhills, never mind a 9 mile mountain downhill. I wonder when the doc will let me ride again, I get the cast off on June 7 and will be able to get around in a boot.

I've done it. It really isn't that hard. And these riders are very supportive, one or two will stay with you. Try it.

It's too bad we both mangled our left ankle or we could mount a side seat on a tandem and one legged drill our way up.

I hate to think of trying to pedal my carcass up that mountain with just one leg though.

We'd have to make sure to pedal fast enough to stay upright though, might be hard.

Well, i'm out of the soft cast this morning and into an aircast / boot combo that's shockingly uncomfortable. he says I can do some walking on it now, which I will interpret to mean walk as much as you want.

June 30 might still be in the cards. Maybe.

June 30 is officially out of the cards for me, unfortunately. I'd do it in 120 degree heat if I could.

Pardon me while I go feel sorry for myself out on the patio.
