Don't forget that you'll need a different bottom bracket to get the chain line correct. A 103mm. I think the Essex comes with a 110mm. And it isnt a smooth one either. I used one of these. Amazon.com: Sunlite Square - Comp Cartridge Bottom Bracket - 68mm, ENG, Square Taper, 103mm, Steel: Sports & Outdoors Remarkably solid and buttery smooth, and freakishly inexpensive for the quality. You'll also end up with just about the narrowest possible Q factor too. Triple win. Post pics when done.

i am confuse, fsa recommends a 110.5 for those cranks, and i have a perfect chainline with those cranks on a 107mm bb, and i wouldnt be able to use any smaller of a spindle. waaat.

FSA recommends a 110.5 bottom bracket to acheive a 45mm chainline.

He is running a Shimano CB-E110 coaster Brake that has a 42mm chainline.

Running a 107mm BB with that crank will result (theoretically) in a 43.25mm chainline. Off by 1.25mm. Unfixable with spacers.

Running a 103mm BB with that crank will result in a 41.25mm chainline. Off by 0.75mm. Fixable with spacers.

I run a Shimano CB-E110 and use a 103mm BB with that crank and it fits flawlessly. The tolerance between the crank and shell is awesomely precise and looks like they were engineered for each other.

You don't have enough room to move your crank in 2mms closer to the shell?

Named after cycling legend Felice Gimondi, this retro styled crankset is designed with state of the art technology to perform at the highest level and still maintain a classic look. Forged and machined aluminium 6061 crankset. 100% CNC chainring of AL7075, Torx T-30 chainring bolts of aluminium 7075. Q-Factor: 149 mm, chainline 45 mm. Recommend bottom bracket axle length: 110.5 mm. Also compatible with 3/32" or 1/8" chains.

theyre cranked down pretty hard and its the second time theyve been put on, theyre mad close to the shell. maybe with new ones not over-tightened theyd fit fine on a 103. i was confused about the chainline but that hub explains it, i have the same one, but im not using it right now. and i forgot that it was for a 45 chainline.

anyway, that chain gaurd is tooo cool.

Dude, it's MORE than mad close on my bike. When you look at the inside of the crank arm where it meets the BB, you'll notice that is just a little conically shaped. The diameter is a TINY bit smaller than the lock rings for the BB. The end of the arm actually goes INSIDE the BB Shell by just a MM or so. You cannot even see the spindle. It's impossible to see spindle from any angle. It's as precise as it could be. Spins flawlessly too.

It's pretty sick looking.

The front is an OYB. I still have it and may put it on the new ride. The back bag is a Tom Bihn Ristretto bag that had a map pocket that slid perfectly over the seat post rack, and waist straps that I used to lack it in place around the frame.

It's a common Wald basket. Any bike shop can get you one if they have none in stock.

Rode my Lotus Pegasus to work today. It was fun to take some of the brick roads I normally avoid and take in some new scenery.
