Surprised no Richmonders have pointed out the nearby place name: "Short Pump"

Formerly a stage coach stop on "Three Chopt Road" on the way to the mountains.

How about mailboxes? Seen on a box in rural western Wisconsin was this poor fellows name - Dick Putz. Why not Rich, Richard, etc?

In Minneapolis we have the intersection of Emerson and Lake. No Palmer nearby, however.

In Fridley, Minnesota there is a subdivision with all musically themed streets. My favorite is Concerto Curve. Nearby are Tempo Terrace and Lyric Lane.

While I sure didn't know it when I was, well, bonging along at the park, the man was a national hero. His death was reported on the front page of all major newspapers, which is remarkable as news of his death shared the day with another major story: the first atomic bomb being detonated over Hiroshima.
Some friends of mine own hunting land with Bong's grandson, who interestingly, is a commercial pilot.

The desert fascinated me.

I have a picture of myself "Standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona" in a box somewhere. Didn't see the girl (my Lord) in a flat bed Ford though.

I've been to 0 Rd (zero road) and 1/2 Rd in Mack, Colorado.

I've been to Hell and Jupiter.

Here in Georgia we have
Jot em Down Rd.
Booger Holler Rd.
Santa Clause Rd.
Blue Car Body Rd.

In Mountain Brook AL there's Easy Street. Mobile has This, That, and Next streets.

Out in California there's Infinite Loop. Who'd name a street Infinite Loop?

There's a Yellow Brick Road. Backlick Rd. Shotgun Court. Pohick Rd. We have a Clydesdale Rd too. All those are just north of me, including Bunny Man Bridge which is said to be haunted lol
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunny_Man

Down the street there is a subdivision called the "State Streets" by the locals - A huge maze of streets named after all the states.

On one of my riding routes, there's a creek I cross called Fourmile Creek. I have no idea why it's named that, since looking on Google Earth it's around 8 miles long, not counting all the twists & turns.

In Indiana, at the Northeast end of Wawasee Lake, there is a housing development called "Enchanted Hills".
Many of the street names are inspired by children's stories.

A guy I knew who lived there, got pulled over by a cop on suspicion of driving drunk, (he was).
Things got rather tense when the cop asked him where he lived and his slurred answer was: "Humpty Dumpty Lane".
The cop thought he was mouthing off.

Is it about four miles from a town, what used to be a town, or major intersection? Where I was a kid there was a place called Six Mile Corner because it was a highway junction six miles from town.

It's only about a mile and a half from the nearest town, and I really can't find anything significant it's four miles from.

yabutt it's got to be four miles from something.

We have a gas station know locally as The 44 Store. Maybe 44 miles from something. Actually, it used to be on highway 44. The changed the name of the highway to Hwy 550, but it remains the 44 Store.

Maybe the guy who named it walked the mile and a half and thought it seemed like 4. I can see that happening.
