50 Years Ago: June 1969 in Bicycling! magazine

Interesting content and ad copy seemed to be a bit light 50 years ago this month in Bicycling, but I've included two articles that spoke to me the loudest.

As usual, let me know if you'd like to see something else listed in the ToC and I'll do my best to send you a pdf.
Just send me PM that includes your email address.

Pretty cool to see this ad. Chardon is a great community not far from me. Bought a mint miyata there.

OK, because you made me laugh...... The issue is...it appears to be a two-part article that started with 3 girls in the May issue and now is down to 2 girls in the June issue.
Complicating matters is that the pages of both articles are stuck together.
I'll see what I can do.

Prompted by @Spoonrobot's pondering above, I've attached the two-part story here.

Surprised no actual photos accompanied the story, especially given that a photog was one of the people who initiated the story. Which led me to wonder if the story was just a '60's "pipe-dream."

But it was not! From a Texas newspaper:

The Monitor - Your Freedom Newspaper
McAllen, Texas Sunday, September 22, 1968

I had the same thought as you about photos and the photographer, but I didn't think to search further.
Thanks for contributing! Good find!

I'll admit to be a little cheeky about asking but was genuinely interested. Thanks for scanning and posting, those are delightful articles with quite interesting art choices.
