Mount Diablo Turnout Lanes

OK this is really substantial. The sample turnout lanes that were installed a year or so ago seem to be well received by cyclists and motorists and now they have an approved plan to add 77 more of them. Every one is identified and detailed and phased by priority and the plans are ready to bid; but of course the State Parks don't have the funding so the Cal Legislature needs to fund it. So MountDiabloCyclists.org is asking for a campaign to influence them. Please consider sending your politicos a postcard or e-mail. You can see the plans there, watch some videos about how well the lanes work, and find an example letter to write. This project will make Diablo an even better place to be a cyclist. Thanks for helping.

Apparently the politicos would rather not be e-mailed - use this link for quick access to their contact pages and sample text to use in their message boxes.

Just wondering if anyone has gone to their planning commission meetings (which are public) and request that a grant be applied for.

We need this! Way too much traffic and inpatient drivers on the mountain!
