Old School Shimano Freewheel Remover
Help! I've lost my (older) Park Tool Shimano freewheel remover, you know - the one they decided not to make anymore despite the fact that thousands of bikes still have the old-style Shimano freewheels. All ranting aside, I'm in a bit of a pickle and I can't find the one I JUST KNOW that I have around here somewhere. Can anyone give me a direction to search for a new one, or old one, Park or otherwise? Any help at all would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The current Shimano cassette lockring tool is a very close (but not exact) fit to Shimano freewheels. Sometimes they work if the freesheel isn't on absurdly tight.
I have a genuine Shimano freewheel extractor (TL-FW80). If you can't find your Park or the lockring tool doesn't work, PM me.

I think the OP is referring to the older, long deprecated Shimano splined tool, which is not at all compatible with the newer tool. Park, et al only make versions of the new tool. I'm not aware of any current production of this type of tool; it's only available on the used market:

That'll be the tricky part. I looked on my tool, and it is completely unmarked so I can't give you a part number to search for, and I bought it new forty years ago or so when they were readily available. But I can tell you it is 20.0mm in diameter (the new version tool is 22.6mm diameter) and has twelve splines.
Bon chance!
Update: I just took a look in an old United Bicycle Tool catalog and found that Bicycle Research made a version of this tool, described as the remover for "Shimano Boss freewheels." The Bicycle Research part number is CT-4:

Funny. I had to go the long way around, but I actually found one on Amazon.
VAR
Better price than some of the NOS deals on the original Shimano tools I've found.

I just pay the LBS $5 to remove those when I encounter them.

Yep, Bicycle Research CT-4. It requires removing the axle spacer before it will fit so it's a bit of a pain to use. It's also the one that fits the Shimano FFS non-freewheeling "freewheel".
It's available here: Shimano Splined Freewheel Remover (pre-1985)
