Why no love for RST?

As many of you know, I am a new mountain biker, just got my first FS bike, switched from a suspensionless.

The front fork on it is a RST capa t7. I know some people say that RST makes crap, but it doesn't bob on the climbs, and takes everything I throw at it with no signs of wear. It has travel and preload adjust, as well as decent travel.

What I am wondering is...

Why doesn't anyone like RST?

Yeah. RST used to make a lot of low end stuff on * Mart bikes and that hurt their reputation as seen by the casual rider. As far as I know they have always made some very good quality high end stuff though that competes with Fox's and White Bros high end stuff, but more than I'm willing to pay. Marzocchi is my happy medium.

Good points here. Not all high quality shocks come from Rock Shox, Fox, etc... I think that they just put out the most sponsorship, so they are high visibility. I've been running a new set of SR Suntour forks, and they're great. Just over three lbs, alloy steerer, 80mm travel, mag lowers and alloy stanchions. Also has spring/mcu combo and a very adjustable pre-load and will do either disc or V-brakes. Nice blue color as well. Price? Just under $80 on ebay, NIB (that's price with shipping). Although I did take off all the decals to avoid odd looks.

OK - - I've ridden 7 RST FR/DH forks, one air XC fork and one coil/air XC. All have held up well with the exception of an early prototype 7" that suffered bushing failure.

What you have to understand is that RST are known for their lower end forks. As such, they should be evaluated with regards to their price. I could say my RST Gila T5 was crap compared to a 888, but for the low price that it probably costs aftermarket it performed perfectly well.
