Flat Mount Hydraulic Disc Brakes for Flat Bars
I have been racking my brain trying to find a set of Flat Mount Hydraulic Disc Brakes for Flat Bar Hybrid Bicycles to suit my needs/desires. I would prefer a complete set but I could do individual components also. My FX X 6 comes equipped with Tektro HD-310's. They aren't bad brakes but I'd like to up grade. Preferably to Shimano. I am creating this thread to compile various choices and elicit opinions/suggestions. TIA for your contributions.
I'll start with a new (to me) contender. The TRP. I heard once that Tektro makes them and they are meant to be a a high end unit. I noticed that Specialized uses TRP on their high end Sirrus Pro Carbon. Here is an example. It may be post mount, there is mention of an adapter. I haven't researched them much yet but, they look pretty awesome.
G-Spec Quadiem

The Ultegra disc with Shimano Saint lever is a top contender. I have Saint pedals and they are really good quality. The Ultegra is an up grade from the 105 and I may go that way some day with my drive train. It is a flat mount. No adapter needed that I know of. These look pretty cool and should perform well.

@Delwis ... yes, TRP is 'Tektro Racing Products' ... so, quite literally, the 'high end' branding for Tektro.
Excellent stuff in every way. I do not have any Tektro/TRP disc products, but I do use TRP v-brakes (CX9) on my bike.
They are, quite simply, superb. I installed them in 2011, with XTR brake cables (and Avid SD7 levers). I have done absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, since, other than replacing pads as needed. They have never once gone out of adjustment, and work as well now as new. That is with on average 6-7000kms/year, March through December, 2011 through 2017.
Just sayin. TRP stuff is first-rate.

I have the Sirrus elite carbon with Tektro Gemini hyd disc
Rear brake squeaks & clicks , new shoes & cleaning ***same after a couple rides.
Talk to the LBS about upgrading .
Might be able to just put on calipers.

I have been trying to acquire bits cheaply from ebay for the last year or so. I'm just about to start the build. The frame 'initially' (this might be changed half way through or at the end if the right one becomes available) is a Merida cyclocross, so I guess no adapters will be needed.

whole MTB disc brake sector works with flat bar s both being 7/8" 22.2 mm tube size where brakes/shifters & grips go.
flat mount calipers are more a carbon road bike thing, you are picturing the more common post mount calipers..
this is a flat mount

Thanks Bob. Yeah. The Hy-Road would be a good option.

Dang. That could be. I see they come on a couple of Canyon models. Have to see if I could get them there maybe.

I wrote Canyon but I'd have to ship from UK if they would even sell them. But, Tektro answered my inquiry already and told me to contact Tektro USA directly. Hopefully I'll hear something tomorrow. Still not for sure on my choice but this could be it. Pending application, price and availability. Still considering Metrea seriously and I haven't heard back about the TRP's yet. And, they would have to be flat mount. I don't want that big bulky adapter.

I have the TRP Spykes on my Surly Ogre which are the MTB equivalent to the Spyres, and while I think they’re the best mechanical brakes out there, hydraulic brakes are still much better, especially on a road bike IMO. Most MTB riders prefer mechanical brakes because there’s a good chance if something goes wrong they can possibly fix them on the trail, where a hydraulic failure almost certainly means “no more brakes until I get home”.

@Delwis, I'm going to second @Scooty Puff Jr.
It seems to me pointless (just my thought!) to go to mechanical discs of any kind given that you have perfectly good/nice/really quite decent hydraulics stock on your bike: those Tektro 310s.
Sure, something from TRP or Shimano would be nice. If you did want to change the brakes now, and do want to stick with flat-mount calipers, I'd be tempted to ascertain whether a set of Ultegra or Dura Ace level calipers (flat mount) could be mated to XT or XTR levers, and whether you could purchase the calipers and levers separately.
If so, then there's your solution. Otherwise, I'd be inclined to wait for a year or two: I've no doubt that flat-bar flat-mount hydraulic brakesets will become more easily available aftermarket as time goes on.
Just some thoughts!

I agree with both you guys. I really don't want to go mechanical. Just checking out any and all options. I think those are actually mech/hyd systems.
The Tektro Twister R would be perfect. It is basically the same thing as the 310 except prettier. All the parts match up to the 310. I checked them all today. All I would have to do is swap calipers and levers. Waiting to see if Tektro/TRP will sell them to me , how much and when. The Ultegra and XT/XTR combo is still in the running though, along with the Metrea. I'll have to take another look at the Dura Ace but they seemed a little pricey/overkill to me.

No, I'm afraid not. The guy I spoke with was going to email their purchasing agent to see if they could order them for me along with a stock order. They would have to be special order and come from Japan. It could take 2 months to get them. If it is possible. Hoping to hear something by Monday or maybe even Tuesday if they have to hear back from Japan. My company is a distributor for a Japanese line of CNC controls and it often takes an extra day to hear something back due to the time difference.

Bike shop had Shimano SLX
Paid a little much
But got free install, lines cut & sized
Gotta support your local bike shop ,
They’ve bailed me out a few times
Noticed a Big difference in just a little test ride .
No squealing, LOL
