He spoke at my high school my senior year. The next morning he spoke to my English class. Wore the trademark white suit both days. It was the start of one of our vacations. I remember because later that afternoon we were both on the same train from Springfield, MA. Back then you had to change trains at New Haven, CT, to get south the NYC, Philly and D.C. I saw him walking on the platform toward the next train. He was a very fast walker. Failed to catch him before he got onto the "club car." I only had a coach ticket.

On today’s ride I mentioned that we have not had such a good response or even preparation for the virus. One of the more outspoken riders could not help himself and started channeling Fox etc. and said it’s all Obama’s fault.

My uncle was a barber, among other things, and was kind enough to teach Mom how to cut hair. Haircut every other Sunday, was the way of my world. Haircut, tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches on a TV tray, Wonderful World of Disney, and Ed Sullivan. Mom didn't cut my sisters hair, and I always thought that was bunk. She still got to do the TV tray thing.
Life hasn't changed much. I used an old Halloween cape, he ate plain rice, and watched Teen Titans Go.

So, first ride with the new shoes - on the whole, things went well, other than a couple minor annoyances, mostly indirectly related to the shoes.
First, getting my neoprene booties over the dual, bi-directional Boas was a pain in the butt - each of the four Boas either lifted up and disengaged or they turned in the loosening direction, so I had to fiddle with the dials through the booties to adjust tension. Frankly, I think that this is just the cosmos telling me that I should get those lace ups for the occasional color pop and for bootie duty.
On the ride, my saddle felt a hair low, so I'm wondering if the effective stack height is just a little more than the old shoes; I'll give it another ride and if I still get that feeling, I'll raise it 5mm or so.
And I can never get Speedplay cleats installed perfectly on the first try. A little tough to engage at times, so I'm going to back out the screws a quarter turn each.
The important thing is that there wasn't a hint of foot discomfort, though I'm going to temper my enthusiasm knowing that it was only a two hour ride.

Welp, just got the email that the Governor ordered all MN schools closed through April 6th. Schools will be open tomorrow to give students/teachers an opportunity to gather belongings, say goodbyes and distribute wet kisses.

Mom did all the hair cutting till I got a job and started having the pro's do it. That was @15 years of age. My hair was a bit of a challenge for her, and for me. We had lots of fighting over my hair. I had extremely curly hair. And on top of that it was thick, cant get a comb through it thick. I sported an afro for a while in high school unasisted by any kind of product. That's how thick it was. Oh the horrors.....
