Sweet. The frame on that one is in much better shape than mine. Mine is covered in scratches, scuffs and gouges when you look close....

Any idea what yours weighs?

I found this 750 on OfferUp in pretty much original unridden condition. On the first ride i broke grip shift so swapped the cockpit from an 88 Stumpjumper. Then I added 700x40c Kendas.

It’s 40mm between the chainstays. How wide would you go?

It also depends on the brake bridge and chain stay bridge. They might restrict taller tires before wider tires. That happens on my ‘88 Specialized Sirrus.

All things being equal, if you’re just on the road, 32 should be sweet.

Went for a ride today. I really like the way this bike handles. I upgraded this over the winter. The only original parts are the seat post and the pedals. Is now a 3x9, new wheels, fenders and micro shift levers.

and my baby, a 82 710.

No rattle on mine. There is enough room for 700x32's

Ok, less of a bike photo and more of a group photo. (Kind of hard to see my wife, but her shadow is in the back.)
Me: ‘81 412; oldest daughter: ‘81 510; wife: ‘81 710; youngest: ‘98 C’dale . (Don’t worry, I have a ‘78 510 for when she reaches full height in a couple years!)

Families that ride vintage treks together stay together! And stays healthy and sane during a pandemic!!

I am not sure, but I have a '86 560 and can max out at 28's I don't think it will fit anything bigger. I can't really tell what you have on there currently and technically 420's were like a sport touring frame so maybe there is more space. Good luck.
