Thanks all! I'm having some titanium components installed.......unfortunately in my arm rather than on my bike.

Sux Joe.
Did a pair of 30 miles rides yesterday and today. The wind is a killer so I stayed away from the beach.

Wind wasn't as bad as the other day but close, 12.5 out from field 5 at a brisk pace and 12.5 miles struggling the whole time. Went to downshift at one point and discovered when my kid knocked the bike into another the other day it snapped the front der plate. Wife took a pic as we parted ways, bike looks bigger than the car.

We had a tight time frame to ride this morning, started at 8 from BP Library, should have payed better attention to the weather radar, got dumped on while westbound on the service road, was wet all the way back, at 50 deg. it was wet AND very cold.

going to be a while. I have an implanted u shaped titanium plate and 11 screws holding the distal end of my radius bone together. no joke, I'm glad we have 2 tandems as my first ride will probably be in the back seat. I already have volunteers to pilot the mrs. right now I could not hold a spoon in that hand if my life depended on it.
thank you all for the concern! I'll be back. KEEP THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN!

Finally took the Emonda down for the ceiling hook. WOW, it's amazing how different it rides compared to the SuperX. Much quicker, responsive and turns like it's on rails.
I headed out easy since it's the first ride after taking it apart overt he winter... all was good, I did need to micro adjust the RD which is east to do on the fly with eTap. Headed north and then east.Next thing I knew I was in Kings Park. I didn't plan ahead since I has a 16mph southwest wind all the way home.
68miles total @ 15.7mph
I'm a bit sore but glad i'm in decent shape this early in the season.

Note to the L.I. locals, as FYI that the state has posted signs on the Bethpage Bike Path up near the BP park that the path is closed next week for 3 days 5/3 thru 5/5. It doesn't say why or from what point south of the traffic circle, but they did post south of that point so be prepared to bail off at some point. Might be maintenance as I can't find any info on the website.

I think they will be fixing the section where they have the orange barrels and the roots have lifted the blacktop.
About time.

Hey Glenn, was that you northbound on said path today at 1230pm? If so I guess you don't recognize me in "civilian clothes"! I was walking southbound south of Linden St on my way home from physical therapy with a black brace on the broken arm.
Glad you're getting out.....I'm slowly going bonkers.

Another windy day. I guess the wind is Long Island's version of hills.

Friend of ours (age 89!) rode up to Bethpage today from Mass Park to join a few of us for coffee and reported it open, signs removed, with segments resurfaced. I think I'm still a few weeks from riding.

Road the Bethpage path, the section between Merritts to Hempstead Turnpike is about 40% repaved. Not "glass" smooth but much better than before. The rough section in the park, about 100 feet, has been repaved.

Road to Captree and sorry I did. The wind was murderous on the way home. 21mph there and 14mph back and I worked a lot harder on the way back.
I keep forgetting that the wind is double the speed at the beach than at my house and i'm only 1/2 mile from the Great South Bay.

They added 1/4 mile markers to the Bethpage MUP from Linden north. They start at Sunrise and continue to Old Country where I got off the path. The erased the old one in Bethpage park and they are in the same font and size as the one to Jones Beach.
