Anyone ever broken a Thomson stem before?

Never thought it would happen because they are supposed to be bullet-proof.

And honestly, i have no idea how this happened. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. Just the same old easy going street riding. No pot-holes, curbs, crashes or anything.

I bought one that had a broken face plate but they were known for that back in the 90s and you have an older 90s stem so not completely out of the norm. None of the new stuff though and I haven't had any seatpost issues either.

Yeah, I've seen a bunch of broken face plates but nothing like that.

Thinking back on it I did have a co-worker who had a crack in a similar spot but his was an old stem and I can't remember but I think they replaced it for him as he was the original owner.

I broke a faceplate on one, and discovered that it wasn't unusual. At the time I thought they were the standard of the industry, but discovered otherwise. However, nothing like that.
