rim size

Does anyone know if there is a road bike wheel that has a larger diameter than 630cc. I understand the british roadster used a 735mm rim but unsure if this was the tire size or the wheel size.

I am wondering if this translates to a larger outside rim diameter, which may give me the added diameter I need for my calipers to reach the rim. If not, are there different brand 27" wheels that have a deeper rim, say more than the standard 1/2". This may also solve my problem.

Wouldn't it be easier and less expensive to buy brake callipers with longer reach? Even if you find wheels you may have great difficulty finding tires

No, you've got the wrong brake calipers if you can't reach a 27', 630mm bead. Even 635 mm rims are usually Westwoods so no brake surface.
Pics?

Thanks all. Calipers reach on one side and are only about 2mm off the rim on the other. I will experiment with adding washers to see if that changes the angle enough to lower the reach.

Some calipers lend themselves to lengthening the slots. I'm not recommending that at all but angles won't help.

I think we are saying the same thing. By adding a spacer you lengthen the distance between the fork and pads which also changes the angle that the pad hits the rim since the rim is curved. Unless what you mean by slot is the hole for the pads, which may be another option since the distance is so small.

Drop bolts may be available for your calipers, depending on the brake brand. But the simplest solution is, as suggested above, to buy longer-reach calipers.

It's always a headscratcher when brakes don't reach a 27" rim.

As always, a picture of the problem helps, big time.
