Mountain Bike Brake Shoes & Chainrings vs Road
I have seen the two MTB parts that look good for my road bike, at a better price than the road parts. Is there a difference for MTB vs Road for these 2 parts?

I have an old road bike from the 90's found a tourney front derailleur it was a mtb part. I think it depends on the part but most should carry over. cassettes I'd assume have different ratios for road riding and brake levers wont be convenient to apply over. guess it would depend on the parts you are looking at.

depends on the brakes, v-brakes shoes are different from road and canti brakes
Also most cranks have different BCDs which are where you bolt on the rings, unless it's a direct type (newer cranks could be another variable as I haven't bought one in 2-3 years)
