More Yelling
I got this from the USA Triathlon website in their Training Tips area:
"- When braking on turns and descents be sure to yell out “braking” so others know you are slowing down."
Just what we need, more people yelling during rides .... sheeesh
I'll add a few more:
"Attacking now !" Wouldn't want anyone to get caught off guard.
"Rubbernecking" - So I might swerve a bit.
"Coasting" - so the rider in front should speed up a bit. Back in the old days of metal brake levers, we used to "click them" to get guys to pick it up a bit.... doesn't work with these dang carbon things.
"Daydreaming" - my pace might vary somewhat.
"Spitting" - guess if it will be to my left or right !!
"Snotting" - DITTO
"Hill up" - so we can all downshift ahead of time.
"Descending" - Oh boy ! Big ring !!
Any more ??

"Going slow"
I have yet to see a tri rider that is fast. On the weekend racer route here in Miami, I come across them all the time. $5k+ bikes and gear, in full tuck, swerving al over the place, riding in a group (I thought there was no drafting in tris), on the big CR in a huge gear and I go past them spinning a 42/17, not even trying.

They are out there.
I rode in a group ride with a young man who is a triathlete. He was very fast. Took second in a "road race" (more like a long crit) that I was in. I think he competed in his first Ironman about that time, and did pretty well.
He also did fine in group riding, not squirrely at all. But he wasn't on a tri bike, just a typical road Cannondale.

Just because someone does tris doesn't mean they dont ride road bikes or in groups too.
