Side pull brakes installation issue !
I am planning to install these brakes on my bike and a little confused with the barrel positions on the brake
This link is of the front brake.
https://www.jensonusa.com/BMX-Sidepul...pull-AFS-Black
I am confused with the barrel adjuster being the other way around and it specifically says that its the front brake.
This link is of the rear brake
https://www.jensonusa.com/BMX-Sidepul...Sidepull-Black
This is pretty normal.
I needed some guidance as how to fit the front brake ie, the cable orientation.

I have 2 Bottom pull Brakes as standard equipment on my folding bike.
Those could also be an adaptation to other things like fork spinner parts.
edit , Dan's pix below..
The 1st link is for a cable pulling from the bottom , if on rear, that is suitable for step through frames
with the brake on a Seat stay Bridge but no top tube, so cable wont come from above.
I would not be too surprised , if the holes in the brake arms for the cable clamp
and the hardware through them, are interchangable .
Front also means the mounting bolt is longer to go through the fork.

The front brake is routed like that for bmx bikes with cable detanglers (The odyssey gyro is a common one). A detangler allows you to spin the bars around as much as you'd like without the cables tangling (aha!). The front brake cable run down the steerer tube and then up to the caliper- this is why the barrel adjuster and fixing bolt have been swapped compared to the back as the cable is coming to the brake from the bottom.
You can get a sense of it in this picture:
I would imagine if you're not planning on doing barspin style tricks that you could either use two rear brakes, or swap the cable anchor and barrels on the arms of the front caliper.

Unless I'm mistaken, you might/should be able to switch the barrel adjuster pivot pin/shaft and cable locking pin/shafts around (i.e. so that the barrel adjuster pin/shaft is on top and the cable locking pin/shaft is on the bottom).

99% of side pull brakes set up this way, are identical to those set up normally. The number of brakes of this kind are too small to justify special forgings, so manufacturers make the brakes so the hardware can be switched for either routing. The odds go to just about 100% when the barrel assembly is bolted on as it is on these.
BTW- though inverted route brakes are normally switchable, this isn't true of normal top/down brakes, most of which are dedicated and can't be inverted.

And just to be absolutely clear here, OP: you would want to buy a front and a rear instead of two rear calipers and swap hardware around (as has been mentioned in posts #s 3, 4, and 5 of this thread)- the length of the mounting bolt for a front brake is longer to compensate for the diameter of the fork steerer and a rear caliper's mounting bolt is most likely too short to work.

Thanks ! Yes they are interchangeable . @ Ithadan - I have 2 fronts so the bolt size is long, can I put spacers and use it for the rear ?
