I did a build back in 2007 with a SOMA DeLancey and LOVED it. Ended up selling it 6 months later (got married) and now am looking to do another similar build. It appears SOMA no longer produces the DeLancey or the similar Van Ness. Is there anything similar out there that anyone can recommend for a frame / frameset purchase?

Off the top of my head:

Cinelli Gazzetta - no lugs, but a nice steel frame
Kilo Team/Deluxe TT - probably your best bet for a lower cost frame with lugs (Team) or chromed bits (Deluxe TT)
Colossi Zapp Track - lugged frame, looks really nice in photos, but I've never seen one in person

Actually, the question becomes...when you say you want something like your old DeLancey - Do you mean lugs? Chrome lugs? The somewhat roadish geometry? All of the above?

If your intent is to build something as stunning as that DeLancey, you may consider a Mercian. You can get lugs and whatever geometry you want.

I think I remember reading that you can special order custom colors. He may be able to chrome the lugs too. Give Richard a call and see what he can do. Worst thing he can do is say no.

I'm still in awe that you sold that DeLancy in the first place. That was a real keeper.

This Waterford T22 may blow your budget, but you will have the nicest looking fixie in the neighborhood.

OP...your old bike was a 52 right? I have NOS one in gloss black with a straight-leg fork but no chrome, cable guides, or bottle bosses that I've been hoarding "just in case". I might be persuaded to part with it if you are interested.

Edit...just noticed yours was 1-1/8" threadless - mine is 1" headtube with a threaded fork

yea Maxway is a big contract frame company in TW, lots of brands use their services.

Thanks a bunch for all the hints and recommendations!! I really wish I had held onto my DeLancey. But, over time, I'll make another build. Right now, the Wabi Cycles Special or Special SE is looking pretty nice!
