It is indeed a nice color. Probably has good visibility in the city too.

riding a 2003 coppi ksc plane aluminum frame with a wishbone carbon seat stays and carbon front fork setup as my main squeeze since 2004.
same frame salvodelli won the giro on. definitely good enuff for a piker like me. my only concession is the deda double wrapped bar tape on the easton handlebars.

Yes, my bike functions as a splash of hi-viz related to Is There a Stylish way to do Hi-viz thread since the majority of my kit somehow ended up as black .
Similarly my other bike is bright orange, even though color choices were solely based on availability in each case.

I also ride a ALR 5 Disc Domane. The isospeed seatpost is not adjustable as it is in the carbon frame bikes. It basic only moves when you hit something pretty hard. I have a ergon dual shell st saddle which probably does more than the isospeed seatpost. The front fork is carbon fiber but has no front to rear movement as in the more expensive carbon frame models. With that being said, I still find the ride to be quite nice. My pavement is not exactly smooth. I have aired the tires down to the minimum recommended pressure of 80 psi which helped a lot. I have 700X35 compass tires on order which should make it even smoother (Bon Jons extralight tubless). Tried 700X38 compass tires. To tall wouldn't fit. Other 38s I tried have fit. ( with minimum clearance. I have no problems recommending this bike to anyone looking for a nice all round road bike that can handle light gravel road trips. Rides smoother than a cannondale silktrail (aluminum) with 26X2.00 tires, headshock, and huge cloud 9 seat. Much faster too.

Fuji Roubaix
I have a Fuji Roubaix aluminum bike and I don’t think it holds me back. Generally road riders must have the best brands and parts.people will say my bike is garbage, but I fly by most of those people that look down on my bike. If you’re fast, you’re fast and an aluminium bike at a lower price with better components and wheels will always ride better than a carbon frame with inferior wheels and components.
CAADs are very nice bikes. The carbon fork eats up a lot of the road vibrations and running 25-28 tires will also help a lot.
my two cents.

High end vs low end
I have an aluminum Raleigh single speed with aluminum wheels, carbon fork and 28c tires. I used to think that it was the bee's knees but then I started putting more miles on my Ti Warbird with carbon fork and rims, also 28c tires. Now, when I ride the Raleigh, every pit and bump in the road feels amplified. It's distracting and frustrating because I feel like I've gone soft and spoiled on my Ti diet.
Point being, lower end aluminum can suck the life out of you. Cdale isn't in that category, of course. Their aluminum reputation is stellar.

I've been riding my old CAAD 4 since I bought it new last century. Love passing people on their new $$$ carbon bikes. With the tires pumped up to 110 psi front and rear the ride is quite jarring, despite the carbon fork. The recent trend of lower tire pressures has really made a HUGE difference in ride quality. My front is now at about 75 psi (on 25's, and based on my weight using the calculators you can find on the web) and the bike is downright plush and it turns better.
All this being said, I'm looking at finally buying a new bike. I want Di2 and disc brakes so it looks like I'll be getting a carbon bike, as I've not seen an aluminum bike that has both.

Havnt seen that either. It appears ppl would rather spend on carbon than DI2, if they cant have both. Me, Im not so sure. The ride quality on mu alloy bike is fine, but hydro discs and DI2 would be a significant upgrade over mechanical discs and mechanical gear.

People who ignore AL are missing a great frame at a good dollar value. If I had the choice of ALw/DI or CF w/mechanical....the AL would be in my workshop in a heartbeat.

For road bikes I have or had
Orbea team euskaltel road bike
Klein Q-Carbon both about 2003 models.
Raleigh Merit 3 endurance bike.
Really looking at buying one of these bikes. Both are endurance type geometry with rim brakes something I'm looking for in my next bike for my age and type of rides I plan to do.
a Specialized allez elite 19.Test rode this bike.I really like this frame, but need to find out more info about it.
or the Orbea Avant H30 18
I also ride CF and steel road bikes.

Early this summer I finally resurrected my 31 year old Cannondale SR500 Road Bike (Shimano 105, 1050 era) that I bought new in 1987, and road for about five years, and then put away. I love the aluminum frame, but it does have the original CrMo fork that does help the ride. The bike just performs. I would certainly consider a newer AL C-Dale if I wanted to upgrade.

I ride an aluminum BMC Roadmachine 03 with Tiagra. At the time I bought it, the CAAD12 105 and RM03 Tiagra were the same price. I think now you can get a CAAD12 Ultegra for that price. This bike is about 10kg, definitely heavier than a CAAD12. Still rides like a dream and is certainly a handsome bike. I'd share a pic but I don't have 10 posts yet.

FWIW I have a steel Guru w/SRAM Red that is 17 lbs 10 oz with just pedals. It's a 55 frame. My Masi w/Dura Ace is a 58 frame and it weighs about the same with heavy Aksium wheels. In a 55 w/ lighter wheels I bet I could get that bike down to an even 17 lbs. I think that's pretty light. I'm pretty sold on AL frames.

Yep. They make the best all around bikes IMO. Got to have an alloy bike for travel, training , winter riding and even the occasional Crit. My carbon bikes are for in-and-out-of-the-garage fairweather riding.
