Anyone tried the new Conti 5000's yet?
Curious if anyone has tried out the new Continental 5000's and how they are. Very strongly considering getting a set when the weather breaks
Thanks
Thanks

I was super excited when I heard about the 5000s because I thought they finally fixed with weak sidewall issues, but then I saw the review on bicyclerollingresistance.com and noticed they now have worse performance in that area. No thank you.

I got the Continental 5000 clinchers. I got 25mm width, they are more narrow than the 4000 IIs. They roll fast and feel great. One problem I have with them is that the "5000" logo is not even on both sides. It won't bother a lot of people, but every time I look at my bike, that dang 5000 decal is off center on the non-drive side. We'll see how long they last or how flat proof they are. So far, I like them better than Michelins Power Competition they replaced. I had a lot of side wall blow outs on the 4000 IIs', I hope I don't have that problem.

I'd be interested in hearing impressions on the tubeless (TL) version. I'll probably pick some up in the spring if I can find a decent price on them. Kinda disappointed to see that the TLs are 80g - 100g heavier (each) vs the regular versions, but oh well.

Thanks! Hopefully they won't be too wide on the 21c rims I ordered. If they are, I'll run the 25's on the back and get a 23 for the front.

Same here. I'm looking forward to reading and hearing about some real world experiences with the tubeless ones. I was never on the conti bandwagon for their regular tyres, but maybe that will change with the tubeless ones.

So how much do the 25mm non tubeless weigh?
Anyone have an actual, real world weight from a scale?

As usual, tubeless is somewhat heavier than tubed (with tube) -- once you factor in tire weight, valve weight, heavier rim tape (if applicable) and goop weight.

Again, as I mentioned, it's mildly disappointing when the Schwalbe Pro One, one of the more popular performance road tubeless tires, and therefor an immediate and direct competitor to the GP5k TL, comes in only ~25g heavier than the GP4kSII.

100% correct. Tire makers don't want this publicized, though. It's takes about 80 grams to make a 25mm tubeless tire properly air tight. It's a coating that goes bead to bead. If the weight difference is less, they are likely changing the carcass (durability, puncture resistance, etc.). Also you can expect the tubeless version's bead to be more difficult to get on and off the rim.

I'm still waiting for my order of 32mm GP5000s (not tubeless) to ship - seems like they have been pushed back to mid-February.
