Koga Miyata Mountain Bike X Runner - What's it worth?

Hi Everyone,
I'd appreciate any advice you may have on what a bike may be worth (and whether it would be a good hard tail bike for a beginner).

I came across a Koga Miyata X Runner. The label says its an Alloy Design 7005.

I don't know much about the bike and neither does the owner. Here's what he told me:
- He's asking $580
- his brother bought him the bike new around 8 years ago (2011 ish) and paid around $2k for it
- he only lightly used it; condition looks close to new
- he sent me additional pictures, which I'll try to post
- The components:
- Rock Shox Judy
- Disk brakes
- Shimano Deore LX components throughout
- Ritchey seatpost
- Mavic rims (Crabss? - hard to make out from the pic)
- Schwalbe Racing Ralph tires
- Selle San Marco saddle

I'd appreciate any info you may provide!
Thank you

No way that bike was new in 2011. The fork and cranks place it at least 5 years older than that.

And I am doubdtful an early-mid 2000s HT with an LX group and a Judy XC fork was $2K new.

They are asking way too much. And lying. Pass.

Thanks, Kapusta!

Good call. I found it here in the Koga 2004 catalog: https://d2zxu9tg022395.cloudfront.net/files/6/2/4/Koga_Brochure_2004.pdf

Just out of curiosity, what do you think it's worth? Is it something you'd want to build up or just ride as is?

it appears to be in good shape
But 15 year old 26rs are abundant, I'd offer no more than 250
