Simplex front mech boss mount - any other mrfs?

Did any other manufacturers make front derailleurs that fit the Simplex boss? I have a SJA 223 which fits, just wondering if there are other options.

You will find Gipiemme branded front derailleurs but they are badge engineered Simplexes. It's mount is a standard, single water bottle braze-on and metric threaded.

While it looks similar to a water bottle braze-on, IIRC the Simplex mount is threaded M6 x 1mm, while a standard water bottle mount is M5 x 0.8mm

Hi, John-

I had one of those derailleurs on an early 80s Peugeot PF 40 and my recollection is having been surprised that a standard M5 allen bolt fit when I replaced the hex headed OEM bolt. Could be wrong, it was a long time ago.

Mavic made FDs that were meant to be used on frames with the French style threaded boss mounts on the lower seat tube. They were part of Mavic's 801 and 851SSC groups
weird thing though, the boss they are meant to mount on, is at a slightly different location height and angle-wise to the bosses that the Simplex clampless French style FDs mount to. So, the bosses for the FD on the seat tube will either be meant for a Simplex or a Mavic FD, and are not meant to be interchangeable. Maybe Mavic did not follow the Simplex standards for this, because Mavic was not a member of the Spidel group, when the French style seat tube boss mount came out.
Notably, Gitane'z factory team used the boss mounted Simplex FD on their team bikes during their winning 1984 season. Not sure, but the Peugeot factory team might have used them too.
