That's nice, VintageRide. There aren't many bikes like that with lugged frames. And yours is so clean.

Great looking ATB, check out that wheelbase!!

This is a bit earlier than hybrids I think since it seems to have friction shifters. The wheelbase would make me think it is a '85ish bike that seems early for a unicrown. That 4 bolt BNX type stem also makes it seem like an earlier bike

Bianchigirl - I am wondering about the exact year myself and not knowing too much about the introduction of certain features that would help. The handlebars are 22mm if that says anything. It seems to be set up more as a touring bike of sorts. Looking at the components it obviously was ridden very little - the wear is quite minor - even the brake pads show a lack of use. I would have frowned on a bike like this even a year ago but I find versatile utility models such as this are actually a lot of fun as I can also take it off road. It is very nicely finished and I like the fact that there are a pair of small guide tubes under the bottom bracket shell for the cable to run through versus a simple cast in notch you usually find. There must be some date stamp on the Shimano components that might help if I can find them.

That looks like a pretty nice example of what passed for a hard tail MTB back in the day.

Those cable slides through the BB shell seem to be a standard Maruishi innovation, I know my road bike has them.

Coincidentally, I had it out for a ride in it's most recent livery and configuration today. It's a very solid ride.

Those who know their Maruishi's that is .

I'm looking at getting the components for another build I've got going and would like to know what I'm getting in to.

Cheers

Someone posted an ad several times on the local Craigslist last year for an absolutely beautiful Maruishi at a reasonable price, but I'm not sure if it ever sold. The ad had very good photos and it appeared to be a high quality frame with nice components. I would have jumped on it except the size was too small for me.

While at my mother's over the summer I came across something you guys might want to see. It's the manual for that Tourace I sold in minty condition. I've since offered to give it to the buyer but never heard back from the guy so it sits on a shelf neglected.

Enjoy

Here's mine. c.1983. All original and in really good condition - just a few dings: handle bar wrap, seat and front fork.

Anyone have an idea of it's value?

Welsome to C&V jetlagjim!
- What model is it RX5? - Anyway it looks like a nice, well preserved one.

This is the wrong forum to ask about value, though - we're not supposed to talk about price here - Post your value question HERE instead, along with a drive-side photo.

Got my Maruishi 3rd hand while in Japan, back in '96.
Road it to & from work for a few years and occasionally off-road on the weekends.
It was a great all-weather commuter bike.

Here are some pictures of a Maruishi Record I had for a couple months before selling it yesterday. I believe it is an '86. I had less than $40 invested in it. The paint was a little rough so I taped off the decals and gave it a spray job. It turned out really nice. I also picked up another Record about a month ago which I will post when I finish up the overhaul.

As I mentioned in my post above I picked up another Maruishi Record. I have finally completed it. It is in near perfect condition. It has kind of weird frame geometry: 48cm seat tube and 54cm top tube.

Hi RJ, please let me know if or when it comes time to sell it. I'd like more info on that lovely Maruishi.

I'm glad this old thread came up, because I was trying to remember the name Maruishi the other day. A buddy bought a used one the summer after we graduated from high school in 1985. It had that classy Shimano 600 that kind of resembled Campagnolo.

I've been away too long...no idea this thread existed! I don't want to hijack an old thread, but it was a Maruishi RoadAce 7 that first brought me to BikeForums. I bought it off of Craigslist and immediately took everything off, all the way down to stripping the paint and taking it in for a powdercoat job. Yeah...not the smartest move but what can I way, it was my first one. Right now it needs some serious work but see pics from during the stripping and after the rebuild here:

https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...adace-7-a.html

kiwi, I think mine is the same model as yours

primo123, you're a step or two ahead of me here. I just found this thread myself and was going to bump it, but you beat me to it. Hopefully we can keep this thread alive.

I've been away from this forum for a few years. Met a girl, got married, had me some kids. Lately I've been getting reacquainted with my bikes and my collection of components.

Here's my Maruishi

Bumping this old old thread. I posted my Maruishi SR 5000 earlier and STILL cannot find any information on it. Has anyone heard of one? Is it rare?
