Touch up paint - Trek Marlin

Hello forum. Please can you help advise?

I want to touch up the paint on a Trek Marlin 5 in purple flip colour. The silver logo on the frame needs the most attention as well as some small scratches on the purple.

Does anyone know if Trek sell touch up paint? If not how would I find the right colours/Pantones?

I’m based in UK. Any help very welcome.

Scratches and dings give the bike character.

But a visit to a cosmetic store will find you bazillion colors of touch up paint. They call it finger nail polish though.

While some will cringe and make you think your bike will fall apart or you'll be shunned at the next Century ride.... I'll work good 'nuff.

Thanks. I’d agree if it was my own bike but it’s a brand new bike belonging to my 12yo daughter and it took a couple of dings on its first ride out.

Any idea how I’d find the right colour matches to nail varnishes?

Never had luck with Trek providing the TUP or details.
An autobody shop might be your fastest & best source.

Head down to your local nail shop. Nail polish makes some fine touch up paint. No that isn't a joke it really works and is what I do when I need it.

Take the bike with you. Ask if they mind if you bring it in to the shop. Or take a good photo and make certain the picture on you phone or whatever matches the actual colors on the bike.

Hobby shops that are truly hobby shops with model cars, boats, airplanes have a lot of paint colors too. Some in little spray cans.

Regardless, you pretty much have to compare the two next to each other or have a good eye and memory. Treks name for that color probably is not what others name that color.

Go to an auto parts store and buy the closest match……Take the bike with you…..Bikes are generally finished with auto refinish lacquer at the factory….Trek uses PPG on bikes made in the US at least…..I worked at PPG for 32 years

There's "perfect match" and there's "not exactly".

"Not exactly" usually just draws attention to the blemish that you're trying to hide.
