Hi. I'm not from Cochrane, but I do pass through there from time to time. That whole area does not strick me as a cycling mecca, but I'm sure you don't have to look too hard to find places to ride.
Heck, just riding the highway out to Driftwood and back would be a good ride.
Just out of curiosity, where did you move from, and what brought you there?

Iroquois Falls is usually where I'm going to or coming from When I pass through Cochrane. Abitibi has a wee paper plant there as you know.

Hehe on the trans Canada, We are just about if not at the end of the line going north

I used to ride everyday But this year the season has been messed up, Was snowing late may. The summer has been mostly stormy so far. I spend my mornings at the gym or riding the bikes in the gym LOL.

I used to go in the smaller side country roads to avoid heavy traffic but now its ful of hogweed everywhere. I almost rubbed myself on some from the side of the road if I would not have dogged out of the way a few days ago.

Hello all. In case anyone here is interested. This is a mountain bike event happening in Nipigon Ontario on the 13th of August 2011.
As well on 14th as well.
The 13th is offering an 8 hour Enduro mtb race. More of a fun event for all and is open to all.
I will post the details below.

"
Looking for a challenge? Looking for fun? Looking for a bit of nostaglia? Looking for a something to do with a couple of good friends? Looking for a great weekend? Looking for a great memory? Looking for something truly EPIC?

Welcome to the Epic Adventures Mountain Bike Festival, a weekend devoted to the mountain bike and all its glory.

The Epic Adventures Mountain Bike Festival has it all!

Schedule

Friday, August 12 - Pump Track/Dirt Jump Jam Session - 6:00 p.m.
What better way to start a weekend, than with a evening of pumping and jumping. Basically a Meet & Greet/Weekend Opener/Tailgate Party to experience some pumps and jumps.

Saturday, August 13 - 8-Hour Enduro - 11 a.m.
The showcase of the festival is a gruelling 8-Hour Enduro, a throw-back to the early days of mountain biking on a old-school, tight, twisty and technical trail. The perfect mix of single-track, double-track, climbing and descending for just the right mix of pleasure and pain.
Enter as either a Solo rider or as a Team (maximum 4 riders). Choose from either the Advanced Loop (8.5 km) or the Novice Loop (4.5 km).

Sunday, August 14 - "Last Man/Woman Standing" Competition - 1:00 p.m.
This is a new event which combines the elements of a Short Track Cross-Country race and a Crit Race found in Road Cycling. Basically riders will complete as many laps around a short 1 km loop (mostly doubletrack to allow for passing) as possible. Any rider that is lapped is eliminated, the competition continues until only 1 rider is left on the course.
Prizes, Prizes and More Prizes!!! Our SPONSORS have gone all out!!!

Locations is Nipigon, Ontario, Canada
