I hope this counts! It's my Linus Gaston 3, bought last year. For NYC, the gearing on the Sturmey-Archer hub is perfect. And it's very nimble and downright fast. Shifting from the downtube is no problem. The bars do put you into a pretty sporting riding position, but I find it comfortable.
If you don't mind something different than the FX, Sirrus, etc. (and those are amazing bikes), try one of these. Fun, fun, fun!

Here's the info on it:
City bikes, vintage bicycles, european bicycles, retro bikes, linus bike, commuter bikes, vintage bikes, city bikes, european bikes, retro bicycles, commuter bicycles, gaston - Linus Bike
They used have a 5-speed version, but the hub was finicky, very sensitive to adjustment. The bars are flipped Dover's, kind of like a low-rise North Road bar. It's got all the braze on for racks and fenders, but I haven't loaded it up: It's so much fun to ride as is that I'm leaving it alone!

Maybe but then would a "Fat" bike be better for sand? I wanted a bike that could be ridden on pavement and neither a mountain bike or fat bike would be as good as the Dual Sport.

The new store will get a lot of walk in traffic.
The Manhasset store is the largest. I pass by the Syosset store often since it's in a main bike route to Muttontown and Oyster Bay.

My 2015 Trek 7.2fx in Waterloo Blue. I'm new to biking and after a lot of research, decided to go with this due to great reviews. Love it so far

That's real nice. What size is it? I have a 2013 roam xr 2 medium, and I'm thinking of going with a rigid fork. What size is that fork?

It's XL... Fork is standard rigid for 29er bikes (80mm geo), ATC 465mm...

After about three years of reading about bikes, test riding several and buying a half dozen used and setting them up in different ways, I've finally found a bike and a setup that may keep me satisfied for the immediate future. Everything else left me dreaming of a new bike. Ironically, it's the bike I started with and the same year, make and model (one size bigger) that I rode from 1995-2007.
1995 Trek 730 Multi-track (21"). It's close to final in this configuration but I've got Deore V-brakes, a Deore rear derailleur and a Deore rear shifter to install. I also want to upgrade to 38mm Schwalbe Racers and replace the seatpost and seatpost clamp with black ones. I don't plan to replace the headset unless I decide to get the frame powdercoated. Drivetrain is 1x9 (36t x 11-28). The key this time was installing a stem that I thought would be much too long and extremely wide handlebars (I'm running the grips at about 70mm). I discovered that I've been riding with my bars much too close to me and it was causing all kinds of problems.
I do hope to upgrade someday if for no other reason than to get a larger size and 1 1/8" threadless headset system. I've looked at the Surly Cross Check and the Soma Double Cross but they are virtually the same bike I'm already riding. An upgrade might mean a custom that I can have set-up for a future Rohloff purchase.

I simply love the look of those multitrack frames. How much does the bike weigh?

I don't have a way to get an accurate weight but it's not too heavy. I would guess upper 20's but it could be as low as mid-20's. I need to get a hanging scale because I'm always curious about how much my bikes weigh.
