New GT Avalanche Expert - newb with questions

Hey guys, new here and new to MTB's. Just picked up a new avalanche expert yesterday (I assume its a 2021, but maybe a 2020 dunno - has the 1x12). Had to do some fiddling with the calibers/pads to get the wheels to free spin more than a few turns. Wondering if someone can help me answer some questions:

- I have the rockshox recon RL with the remote lockout thingy. Seems cool I guess. I notice at the bottom of the left fork it has a sticker for the rebound adjustment with a deer and turtle or whatever it was. But there is no dial there, Just a plastic rod coming down the center of the fork. I spoke with the guy who sold it to me (private sale, bike was brand new in box which he took pictures of while he was unboxing and assembling) he said he has a GT Zasker and its the same but he's also new to higher end bikes. Is this normal? See pic below.

- also at the bottom of the seat post, it has this block - whats this for? it's capped off with 1 allen bolt. It it for an attachment of some sort?

Many thanks in advance.

(edit- guess I can't post pics yet, but hopefully you know what I mean)

Cap on the down tube is a cover for where a front derailleur can be installed.

My guess is you need an Allen wrench to adjust the rebound.

Thanks for the info. The fork is open on the bottom of both tubes, and pulled off a plastic stem thing which uncovered the allen adjustment bolt for the rebound. Im guessing this is just the way it was designed, with no actual knob at bottom of fork. Interesting..

Ya the cap's for a front derailleur, all the Avalanches models use the same frame and the sport (and i think comp) have a 2x9 setup.
I have it on my elite and had to search around to figure out what it was myself lol

Can't help with fork, the elite has a suntour air fork

The plastic rod on the rebound is supposed to be there and you use it to make the adjustment. That way you don't need a tool to adjust it during a ride. On my Judy fork it looks like this, with a tab

The tab pulls straight off and has a hex wrench end. It’s a small one. My caliper says .099 so that would be a 2.5mm. The hole for this is within a larger 5mm socket head. Don’t unscrew that one, it takes the fork apart
