Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I like data and the Garmin app does all the tracking for me so it is easy. I just ride and it is there when and if I want it.

Good ride. Cold but refreshing. My stupid Garmin 130 died mid-ride. I charged it up last night to full, but when I turned it on this morning it was only half-full, and it died less than 2 hours into the ride. Sad!

A combination of the two previous posts. Best to just let it all go.

I always think you're talking about MTB at first, then have to remember the '80s 930s, not the newer ones...

Yeah, why would they do that?

An old couple knocked on our door and handed me 5 $1.00 coins. They said because of all our Christmas dogs, we won the night.

Life is fun.

I hope you’re riding today, Dougie, or else you’re toast. Then again, there have been some interlopers on the board lately that have nothing to do with Addiction as far as I tell. Then, there are those pesky indoor guys...

Yes getting ready. It’s about 20F out so balaclava weather. I should not tip my hand, but we are all friends. Plan is a short 30 miler.

I'm trying to get my wife to go out for a lunch ride. If so, I'll only get 20 or so miles in. If I go by myself, I'll probably get a few more. We're supposed to see 50º today but 20 mph winds.

Our weather will remain perfect at least through January. Sitting in the rocker on the porch, in the sun, I am about to remove my sweater

I made my coffee, this morning, in a smaller pot. On purpose. I am a bit surprised at how much of a difference I feel. I am gonna stick with it for awhile and hope it soon feels normal.

My fat bike got some action though. Loaned it to a team mate who took it out for a couple of hours. Perfect fat bike weather; sunny and cold with plenty of snow on the trails.

We had a fun brisk ride. We did get pulled over by an angry police officer who chewed us out. He gave us a stern lecture about how we should ride no more than two abreast and told us we were 3 or 4 abreast. Threatened to give everyone in the group a ticket if we do it again.

Truth is, we really were riding 2 abreast, but since the riders were staggered I can understand how he saw us as not riding 2 abreast.

Rather than explain the intricacies of perspective, I said we are sorry and we collectively took it. But the guy was angry and kinda wrong. He also passed us on a blind curve in a fairly unsafe manner. No point in arguing with an angry officer, though.

Looks like it’s coming our way too. I hope it accelerates faster than the models predict, so we can do our Weds ride. If not, I may be Zwifting.

At least he acknowledged that two abreast is legal. I’ve been told “single file!” more than once and recently.

I have lost all track of the NFL.
And the NBA too

My Brave browser takes all that away. Happily

There's no point arguing on the side of the road, but it's important to have video to demonstrate what actually happened, and to submit a complaint. Clearly the department has a training deficiency that needs remedy.
