@Slightspeed No more and probably less stress than riding the bike. I think you place more weight on a pedal than than 20-30 lbs!

I was contemplating installing slat-wall and fabricating my own accessories as I finish off my storage room, but I think this would be considerably more cost effective. If I can go 3-high, I will have room for a funky old Peugeot and a Frejus.

The average room can fit around 25 bikes if not more, if hung vertically. So you are just starting there. Keep buying! The C & V world needs BUYERS right now. In my bike room, I have 10 bikes hanging vertically along one wall, and I have three more walls to go! I've got plenty of additional space so I have gotten inefficient.

Assuming you've got the yard space, the real answer is a drop-in shed, properly finished on the inside and wired for electricity.
It gives you both storage and a space to work on the bikes.

I use one of the spare bedrooms in my house as my "work on bikes room" and store them in another spare room. both rooms are really small. I got my work room pretty well organized, but still have limited space. The room with the bikes has 6 bikes, all on the floor, and my 7th bike, still tweaking, is either in the work room or my enclosed but non-heated/AC sunroom. The 2 spare rooms are adjoining and I, at times, think about doing away with the common wall to open it to 1 larger room with direct access to everything. However, I always decide to just leave as is and deal with it.
