The other descent toward the end of the video was so gorgeous, through a hollow with a rushing stream and waterfalls along the road, and right near the end of the long, hot ride. What a reward that was!
Y'all come down @rumrunn6. We'll have a good time.

Thanks Tim
It's an old Apollo that came FG but with no saddle, post, bars or pedals.
It has some nice rims (Alexrims RPD 15 with flip flop rear) and road tires that I knew were worth more than the $40 I paid but decided to keep it instead of flipping.
Years ago my buddy went FG and I nearly killed myself trying his bike out on the road so I decided to take it easy at first this time and make it a gravel/dike bike where the ground is flat and there is little traffic (I have many Km's of dikes near my house). I swapped out the road tires for these gravel oriented ones which also roll very well on pavement, added the rest from my bins and decided to stop there as I like the clean aesthetics.
Have to say, it is my favorite bike at the moment - really digging the purity of the riding experience and I'm getting better at developing the skillset.
Also fun to go a little retro sometimes.

thanks for the writeup.
Yeah, I ride fixed all the time and have a custom frame built by R+E Cycles.

Guys in the fixed gear/single speed forum would eat that Apollo up. Sounds like a great $40 investment.

I've been training to ride from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. There are two sizable hills between, and yesterday was my first time climbing up to Tzuba, a strategically located hilltop village (now kibbutz) mentioned in the Bible as the home town of one of King David's warriors. It also has a cave where John the Baptist supposedly lived.
This is on the descent. The ribbon of dirt in the valley is the Israel National Trail. I would connect with it later in the day.
It was a "hill" of a day. I can't change the X scale but 28 miles total. I switched out the stock 11-32 cassette for a slightly custom Sunrace 11-40. Best bike upgrade so far!

I think I was wearing all the gravel. 2018 Filthy 50, temps around freezing with snow/slush/ice/rain. When the photographers upload pics ... you're gonna be some epic messy/suffering rider.
