Picked up this Velo Sport 1983 Prestige with full Shimano 600 Arabesque and Araya double wall rims. The paint is rough but the frame is straight with no dent and the components are in very good shape. Too tall for me (60cm) but still very happy

Picked this 1984 Fuji Touring Series 3 up today. Replaced the wheels
for some 700’s. New cables and bar tape and a full service.

Rusty rossin

A frame that everyone freaked out about thinking that it was badly rusted out. Someone wanted to make a "stool" from it (poor waste of "SLX" tubing, I've got some "Carbolite" they can do that with). Only problem is rust damage at the front cable tunnel braze-on. Holes need to be brazed/soldered, but the actual tubing is still fine in that area, not thin and "crusty". Probably not given proper cleaning during paint prep and started oxidizing early on; not an uncommon area for rust around TT braze-ons (and others) on many of my early bikes. Flux is good for brazing/soldering, but a little left on an unpainted frame can cause problems later on in its life. Should be an easy fix. Might retain the paint job and just touch up depending on how bad that area is after the repair and rest of frame condition.

If that was mine, I would fill that hole in with JB Weld and save the paint.

Frame repair

That certainly is an option. I'm not sure as to how paint adheres to that stuff, but it probably would be fine with proper prep.
I have a micro torch that is good for this type of work, certainly enough to get solder flow without severely heating up the tubing beyond the repair area. I will experiment on some trashed painted tubing. The frame paint is far from perfect, and may get a full paint job, which I hate doing because I can't decide on color(s)/scheme; it's hard enough for me to decide on what components to fit.

It's not a bike and it has been repaired, most of the parts are there and I plan on repainting it after a good cleaning. It seems to be built like a tank.
Ben

Nice and dirty, but most of the original finish is there.

The forum will not let me post photos yet because I do not have 10 posts, but I saved a 1981 Bianchi Nuovo Racing from a client's house that was moving. It still has the original tires and factory grease, so it's basically been sitting doing nothing for 39 years.

Most of these old school truing stands were carry-overs from the motorcycle industry, hence the "tank" build.

True.
Here it is: I think it's a 1981 Bianchi Nuovo Racing that seems to be completely original. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Seems to still have original factory grease

Rusty Rossin

Other "bad" spots to "restore": paint is peeling around the bridge, might have to strip more than expected, still pretty solid paint aside from the cable tunnel corrosion and various chips and/or abrasions.

This was a parts buy, after inspection it is a 1977 Raliegh Team Issue Reynolds 753. Spray bombed rattle can blue, complete with orange peal and paint run finish. I think some rattle can red will bein my future. I took the fork out and there is red and black overspray on the steer tube.

One of mine also; it looks and is tough (I assume Rossin's proprietary design). I also like this shell from my Moser Leader utilizing an integral bridge design. I don't know the year of the frame nor the maker (late '80s?).

While I haven't been here much lately and life got in the way of building, riding and flipping bikes I have been picking up bikes when I can, this is just a few I have found in the last yr. I am just getting back to fixing some of these so they can move on to a new home.

They are. The frame is too. Corrosion has eaten into the tubing so it's wall art.
I did harvest the 86 shimano 600 group set that's in useable shape.
everything came apart surprisingly easy except for the dust cap on the drive side crank arm. It's frozen in there and I'm going to have to do some damage to get it out. I will try not to damage the arm.

That Raleigh is a prize. Full 531 like the Pro, very few were sold in the States and there's probably somebody who'd really like to have it.

The shell pictured on the Moser was made by Silva.

Thank you for the identification. I am not familiar with most lug/BB shell manufacturers; I have yet to see that shell on another Moser or any other frame. I'm curious as to when Moser started and stopped using that part (would help with frame year/identification). My other Moser has the stylized "FM" cut-out; shells seen on other Moser's have the "U"-shaped "arrow" cut-out shell.
