Another new Tandem Couple
We took delivery of our Co-Motion Speedster in September and immediately took off for a trip around Lake Champlain. My wife and I really enjoy our riding. We are going to Florida in February and a longer tour/trip of about 1500 miles in August and September.
Recently I have been talking with Mel, at Tandems East, about adding some lower gears. We have come up with a new rear cluster of 11-34 and a chain ring of 24t or 26T.
A quick question I have is .Does anyone have and recommendation of "tandem" books? I have seen "the Tandem Book" and "The Tandem Scoop".
Thanks!

Welcome to the madness! Wow, 1500 mile tour/trip... that's huge! Sounds like you were already bicyclists. Tandems are really neat in that they feel different enough from solo bikes that it feels like you've started a completely new hobby, but you don't have to buy new clothes or shoes. ;-)

We run a 26-34 granny. Inner ring is a Salsa. Occasionally we get chain suck on it, don't know why other than 26 to 39 is a big shift.
Welcome to tandeming! We love touring on ours.

The tandem market is very small so not a great amount of books out there that I know about. I suggest searching the internet.

Congratulations on your new tandem. You might try Santana. The have some tips on their website, as well as a booklet that looks like a magazine. It is, of course, slanted toward their version of the tandem, but there are some good insights. The best source of information anywhere, IMHO, is this forum. If you have the patience, you can check out the archive: https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/index.php/f-44.html
I think that every question that has ever been asked and answered in there!
Also, you could join TCA (Tandem Club of America). I think that they still probably have a newsletter and their site has links to many shops, etc. https://www.tandemclub.org/tca/index....id=36:benifits

In regards to the Florida in February, please realize that the Villages in Ocala (Central Florida) has a very active tandem group. Additionally, this is the "main office" for the Florida Panthers tandem club.

Welcome to the great world of tandeming!
Been riding as a duo since 1975 and are now on tandem #5.
Did own a full ciustom Co-Mo and put 57,000 very happy miles on it.
Not much in books on tandeming besides the ones you've already seen.
Agree these forums are a wealth of information for us tandemistas!
