Sending these back. Can't recommend SportCrafters.
The bearings on one of the drum is not pressed correctly causing the drum to sit too far to the side. Because of this the end cap retention screw hits the frame and will not spin. The end cap retention screw is also cross threaded on that drum and there is debris rattling around inside the drum.
Warranty or not, for $400 the thing should at least work out of the box. There is a fundamental problem when brand new rollers don't spin so back they go for a refund.

A nice note about this issue from Peter Colan, President of SportCrafters...
The problem you're showing is caused by the drum(s) taking a hard hit on the end of the axle, which can snap off the inner bearing shoulder on one side, causing not only the drum to migrate to one side but also the noise you hear (which is the inner shoulder). This can happen during shipment. It's extremely rare, we've only seen a few dozen in the last 20 years (after many thousands of drums produced for all the brands we supply) and the shoulder has been beefed up several times over the 20 year life of the mold but we can't anticipate all the abuse it may see. We still support all of the original rollers we built that are in still service after two decades with new belts and feet that typically wear out with time, and are happy to do it!
The screw is there for dynamic balance.. we use a 2-plane dynamic balancer to identify any slight dynamic imbalance and use screws to offset, much like wheel weights on your car. It serves no other purpose.
We have always honored lifetime warranty on our rollers regardless if you're the original purchaser. Please accept our apologies for the damaged drums you've received, and allow us to get you rolling again! --Pete
Good to know that it isn't a manufacturing issue and very generous of the manufacturer to warranty something which was damaged by shipping. I've asked Competitive Cyclist to send another set and can't wait to get them. The screw is there for dynamic balance.. we use a 2-plane dynamic balancer to identify any slight dynamic imbalance and use screws to offset, much like wheel weights on your car. That's proper care right there. Glad it may work out.

Well my plans for the Sierra fell through. The crankset rubs the frame and the only way to get around that would to be to get a 38t crank and the gearing wouldn't be high enough for me so I went and ordered and 69 66cm schwinn super sport frame to make a fixed gear. I still have all the parts for the Sierra so I'll just put it back together and run it as a mountain bike. It's supposed to snow soon anyways

This is the real cool stuff:
Kidding but when paired with my upcoming Swift Industries Bag and Thomson/Tubus/Lone Peak decaleur set up it will be friggin sweet. Plus the upside to this compared with Morgan's original idea is the LP hooks have zero movement on the stays which means no bouncing which means an even more solid set up. Big props to Wayne at TheTouringStore for his expert advice.
I can't wait to actually take the time and get some photos of the dang bike.

I purchased a new stem & drop bars as well as an adapter for my 1inch threaded HS to become threadless 1 1/8. Very psyched.

Also just nabbed some new drops for my road bike, Zipp SL 88. Now my bar will finally match my seatpost and that's important right?

I used the LA vintage bike collectors network to get a hold of some excellent tandem cranks. Deore M730, the original XT cranks. That is a 54t chainring
Only $60. Rebuilding this tandem is coming along nicely.

Ordered some 700x28 Gator's for the Kilo. Cashed in all my points at BikeTiresDirect. Think I may have shelled out like $30. Goodbye stiff 23's....
