I had also tested the Salsa Vaya (Claris version) for the third time and it's just a magic carpet ride of a bike. I'm not wild about the group set, but it shifted flawlessly and the ride was composed and comfortable on asphalt or the trail. The Giant is a great bike, weighs less, has better components and it would probably kill the Vaya in a race. But since I already have a bike that's built for speed, with both at 20% off the Vaya was the one that got my credit card out of my wallet.

Maybe one day I'll have the opportunity to own an Anyroad and I hope all of you that own one and/or have been generous with your opinions continue to have good times with yours...
The Anyroad just probably needed an indexing adjustment. Congrats on your new bike. The best bike is always the one that makes you want to ride more. There is no bad choices. Enjoy !

Anyone know if the 2018 model has a different frame geometry? My friend who is new to this pointed out that the standover height is listed as being over 2 inches different on the Small size frame from 2017 to 2018, yet all the other geometry on the chart looks the same. The shop can't really answer his question and I don't know.

2018 Anyroad 2

Pulled the trigger on a large 2018 Anyroad 2 today at the LBS after mulling over many options, including the Revolt 3 or Trek Crossrip, Trek Domane, and Cannondale CAADX.

The front shifter was also having problems getting into the taller chain ring, so they are keeping it until tomorrow but I will spend some time getting adjusted and fit to the bike with them anyway. They said something about the return spring not working and they are doing a warranty replacement, 0 miles on the bike.

Can't wait! This is an upgrade from my 15+ year old Schwinn mtb I've been riding on the road lately. I was a little hesitant about the 2x9 rings opposed to 3 in the front, but hopefully I won't miss it and will just be shifting less?

Does anyone know what rear rack fits the Anyroad? I picked up a Planet Bike aluminum rack but it's easily 1" too narrow to fit. I could bend the arms out wider but then the tabs wouldn't align flush with the eyelets so I'm not going to use it. In the pictures it looks similar to the Giant Rack-it Disc rack so I figured it would work.

I have now put a few hundred miles on my 2016 Anyroad 2 and honestly it does seem to be a good fit for what I was looking for, a good all-around road/gravel bike with drop bars and sufficient gears for my area and skill level. It’s not as smooth as my Specialized Crosstrail, but then again without a front shock it’s also lighter and faster. It not as fast as my Cannondale CAADX 105,unless it’s a very hilly long ride. It certainly has a less aggressive riding position than my CAADX (CX bike) but not as upright as my Crosstrail (fitness bike). For me, the triple chain ring is worth the price of admission. I only use “granny” gear when I am about out of gas on larger climbs but there is a mental aspect that now has me riding further because I know I can grind my way back up the hills near my house even being dead tired. The only negative I would say is that I will most probably change out the factory seat as on 40+ mile rides my backside starts to miss my Crosstrail.

I will probably change out the crankset on my CAADX to a 48/32 and 11-32 cogs because this experience has made a non-racer like me really appreciate having adequate gears for my terrain and skill level. The Anyroad has become my “go to” bike.

Anyroad 2 looks good for the price with good reputation/reviews. But I also lament the move away from triples and am keeping my 2007 Tricross Comp for that reason. I'd probably also test drive the Revolt 3 (with triple) before deciding. The Diverge would also be under my serious consideration.

I liked the Revolt. You can feel the difference in riding position though, the Revolt is more forward and less upright. It wasn't as nicely equipped as the Anyroad though, despite coming with fatter tires
