You will get old trying to get $250. In that condition $100 is high.

I got $175 for my 750 in 2010 and it was perfect and took three months, and top posted on both Baltimore, and DC CL's. And I lowered the price. CL has always been a marginal place to sell bikes around here. Anything over $200 you will wait unless you are giving it away. And I have sold a few hundred bikes on CL.

750 road bike or 750 hybrid? Should've been able to get much more for the road bike. If the hybrid, I'm surprised you broke $125.

If the 870 is functioning perfectly and cleaned up, 250 shouldn't be tough to get in any market with an appreciation for lugged frames. Since there are few lugged MTBs to choose from, there's less supply and more demand than there is for the 750, and similar TIG'd hybrids.

The 750 True Temper Hybrid from the early 90's is very close in frame geometry to the 520 touring bike. Very desirable bike. CL is just meh around here.
The 870 is not worth what the 750 is. Again, it depends on the year. I still wish I kept the one I had.

This is the one I had, frame only in this completed listing.....https://www.ebay.com/itm/1991-Trek-750-520-frame-23-034-58cm-Touring-gravel-Made-in-USA-True-Temper-/263804273917?hash=item3d6bf5c4fd%3Ag%3APQMAAOSwrIZbQqrM&nma=true&si=pV5AMA%252BTSfUphI%252B016GE%252 B0ii3PQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

And here's another. To much bright lite with a BIN........https://www.ebay.com/itm/Trek-Multit...p2047675.l2557

I disagree with the estimates here, $250 is total fantasy land. Imo. you'd be lucky to get $60 for that red Trek even in decent shape, lugs or not. Notice it hasn't been snapped up at only $35..

The 870 is just not a desirable model. And crummy condition?

The prices quoted on here half the time make me wonder if people aren't trying to pump the value of their own bikes

I don't have an 870, but if I bought that one and got it running like a top, and it came out looking good, I'd list it for $150 'til it sold here in PHX, probably accept $125. Probably list for $200, accept $175 in Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, or anywhere in Trek hotbeds in and around Wisconsin. If I went to the trouble to replace what look like incorrect seatpost and stem, I'd probably want a little bit more.

It's just about half as desirable as a Trek 990, and some people can sell those without any cables hooked up for $500 + shipping.

The 990 was Trek's top of the line mtb, and is completely different than an 870. Also 990's are pretty rare these days, so they're worth a bit more. Even so I don't believe a 990 would bring better than $2-250. $150 is more likely. Old mtbs don't bring a lot of money in, no matter how much they originally cost. As far as the Portland/WA market, I bought and sold many bikes on CL in that area before I moved a year ago, and I am absolutely certain that that red bike even running like a top would not bring more than $60. Probably less.

Not trying to be an jerk, just mentioning the reality of CL bikes sales when talking old mtbs..
