I think it might be because the original owners are aging out of riding, at least two-up. That can be a lot trickier for those of us who don't bounce on impact the way we used to. I know that's how a friend of mine got a screaming deal on a beautiful Santana from a fellow bike club member. Seller was looking for the bike to go to a good and appreciative home as much as anything.

Crossposted from the "wacky Craigslist" thread in C&V. Deserving of rescue.
The idiocy of some people astounds me. Why didn't they just rotate the bars and leave it at that?,,,,BD

Bargain priced Schwinn Duo:
Schwinn Duo Sport Tandem
Schwinn Duo Sport Tandem - $300 (Disputanta) < >
condition: good
make / manufacturer: Schwinn
model name / number: Duo Sport Tandem
1989-90 Schwinn Duo Sport Tandem. Paramount Design Chrome Moly frame, pearl white, 2 new seats, rear bag with rack, 18 speed Suntour XCD derailleur sets with bar end shifters, 48 spoke alloy wheels (27 x 1/4) with Continental Gatorskin tires (schrader valves), Dia-Compe AD-990 center pull brakes, 4 water bottle mounts (3 cages). An bike that is in really good condition considering it is 25+ years old. Not sure of the mileage since I am not the original owner. Paint is fair and it still has the original decals. Frame is large (I am 6'2" and my wife is 5'3") with the rear ideal for a smaller individual.

Tandem Road Bike
Tandem Road Bike - $1200 (Glen Allen)
condition: good
make / manufacturer: Trek
model name / number: T-100
I am sorry to see it go, but I need to sell my beautiful Trek T-100 tandem road bike. It's a top quality road bike suited to the weekend enthusiast as well as serious cyclists. I only bought the bike this past Spring but due to a knee injury haven't been able to ride it much since them. Now...I'm moving and really don't have room for it. Time to thin the herd. It stinks. Anyway, right after I bought the bike I had it completely serviced by Clint at Coqui Cycles. Besides a complete tune up Clint installed new shift lever shifters and cantilever brake pulls, (which don't show in these photos) brake pads, and tubes. I am 6'0" and my wife is 5'6" and it fits us fine. Both seats are in the middle of the available adjustments. All of which to say, this particular bike can accommodate a wide range of riders. As an added bonus the bike has a special drag brake to help on long and/or steep downhills. That's a very nice feature! If you've ever wanted a tandem, come take a look, this is a special and hard to find Serious inquiries only!! Please don't even think about contacting me with stupid low-ball offers!

Triplet!
Co-Motion PeriScope Trident tandem triplet
Co-Motion PeriScope Trident tandem triplet - $4500
condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Co-Motion
model name / number: PeriScope Trident
Do you enjoy riding, but wonder about riding with your children? Here is the perfect solution! The PeriScope Trident makes it easy to start your kids riding early, family style! Super-friendly adjustability makes fitting everyone a snap. I am 6'3" and my sons were riding this with me when they were only 3 and 6 years old (by using the included crank shorteners). This thing is a family party on wheels!
Frame: Handbuilt frame with zonally-butted cro-moly steel tubing
Fork: Co-Motion Taper Gauge w/ CNC Tandem Steerer
Derailleurs/Shifters: Shimano Ultegra 6700 Triple 10-speed/Shimano 105s
Brakes: Avid 887 w/ 203mm Rotor
Headset: FSA Orbit Z 44mm Internal
Drivetrain: FSA Gossamer Tandem cranks 52/39/30T / Shimano XT 11-32t 10-Speed Cassette
Wheels: Velocity ATB Disc hubs; Velocity Aeroheat 26" Rims
Tires: Kenda Kwest Tandem 26x1.5"
Our family has loved this rig and ridden many hundreds of happy miles on it, but the youngest boys have finally grown old enough that it is not longer "cool" to ride with dad. This bike needs a new family to love it and enjoy being the center of attention when they go rolling by.

Here's a bargain Nashbar. Did not know they made these.
Nashbar Tandem
Nashbar Tandem - $500 (Prince Frederick, MD)
Offered for sale is a classic Nashbar Steel Frame Tandem bicycle. Bought used and restored to functional (if not its original beautiful) glory, this bicycle will give you and a friend the chance to enjoy each other's company and a healthy pastime simultaneously.
The pilot's handlebars come with the original bar-end shifters and brake levers. The stoker's handlebars feature a single drag brake connected to a drum on the rear wheel to help moderate speed when you get this thing rolling.
I've replaced the seats and tires, and the bike is ready to go. Email through the craigslist relay to schedule test rides.

text or call show contact info
This is a beautiful Sun TDM-CX recumbent bike for 2 barely a year and half old. Three years ago my wife had a accident on her single while we were ridding and was gun shy to ride anymore after the tuffle. To encourage her to continue ridding together I purchased this so she could slowly over come her fear. Recently we found another single she feels safe on and so were back ridding independent. I purchased this for $2200.00 basic edition .I invested another $1100.00 in extras like front and back fenders, back rack, wind sock frame and two sock covers (American flag and safety yellow a $200.00 cost) , bottle carriers and 2 aluminum bottles, left front mirror, kick stand, ceiling bike storage setup (to hang the bike from the garage ceiling) carry bag, AERO helmet, odometer and more.
This is a basic rundown on the bike:
Frame: Cro-Mo Tig Welded
Wheel Base: 91" (231cm)
Overall Length: 113" (287cm)
Seat Height: 28" (71cm)
Fork: Full Cro-Mo
BB: Sealed Cartridge Bearing 68mm
Crank: Alloy Tandem 170x52-42-30
F. Derailleur: Shimano FD-R443 Flat Bar
R. Derailleur: Shimano RD-MC510 Deore
Shifter: Sram Verio
Freewheel: Shimano CS-HG50 11-34 9 Speed
Pedals: Wellgo LU-982
Brake Front: Shimano BR-M515 Deore Disc
Brake Rear: Shimano BR-M515 Deore Disc
Brake Levers: Tektro 392A Alloy
Headset: 1-1/8" Aluminum
Handlebar Front: Alloy w/2 Bottle Braze-ons
Handlebar Rear: Alloy Under Seat w/Alloy Bar Ends
Stem: Alloy 240mm Quill w/60mm Ahead Stem
Hub Front: American Classic Disc
Hub Rear: American Classic Cassette Disc
Rim Front: 20x1.50 Sun SL-1 Single Track 36H
Rim Rear: 26x1.50 Sun SL-1 Single Track 48H
Spokes: Frt 13g S.S. Black, Rear 13/14g SS Black
Tire Front: 20x1.50 Kenda Kwest 100psi
tire Rear: 26x1.50 Kenda Kwest 100psi
Saddle: Contoured Foam w/Lycra Type Cover
Seat Slide: Alloy
Seat Back Front: Alloy Cool Back Adjustable
w/2 Bottle Braze-Ons
Seat Back Rear: Alloy Cool Back Adjustable
Wt 59 lbs
This bike has seen little mileage. A trip from hatteras Island to Ocrocake village and back. And we've ridden it in our area 10 times ( old route 17 bike trail) we live across the street from it. Maybe 200 miles has been logged. Its been stored in our garage with the attic storage setup which allows us to hoist it up from 1st floor to 2nd floor with a pull of a rope.
This bike is perfect for a couple who love to spend time together riding . This has been well kept and babied. There is dust on it from the storage time. No accidents and fine tuned gears and brakes. So this is a steal better hurry before we change our mind and keep it.
