Is anyone honestly surprised enough to call this a fail?
You're talking about a company that had customers waiting 6 months or more for orders, here.

"August release" in corporate speak means "August 31 2359 local", even to start with...and Canyon has never made a deadline in their existence. If you're needing a bike on a timeframe, buy something else...You're probably not going to have the Canyon you order until 2018.
Maybe I'll be proved wrong, and you'll have your order you make 31/8/2017 2359 local first week of September. In which case I'll admit to being a curmudgeonly kill-joy.

A guy on my bike team has a Canyon. I rode with him last Sunday. It's rare, but it's just a bike. No superpowers.

I rode one while in Spain in June. It was a fine bike, but agree probably not terribly different from the similar offerings from Trek/Specialized/Cannondale/etc....

I didn't notice he had a Canyon. Somebody else did and pointed it out to me. I usually only notice old school steel frames and CAAD12s (because I have one).

I just saw a reply from Canyon on their FB that "there are 31 days in August, mate"

Their website verbiage was changed to Summer 2017 quite a while ago, few weeks ago?
We also don't know where they will be located nor how many locations they will have. I'm more interested in the way Canyon interacts with customers before the purchase, you can go in and essentially get a bio-fit done and they will recommend the size components that would be best for your desired style of riding. Then they make the bike for you. They may not even open a facility in my state, and I'm not going to dish out a round trip plane ticket on top of a bike purchase. So I'll just wait even longer until they open a facility in my state, allows me more time to save $ and grow my budget for the new bike even larger.
